Are you offended? It doesn't seem that way, find me 3 people who are offended by gay being censored and I'll change my opinion on this topic.
Although I know where you're coming from and I do agree with what you're saying, I also disagree. My reason being is some people do tend to take offence to these sorts of things, it may not make sense to everyone why they would but they do. And although many don't understand why it's censored I do. But again yes I see where you're coming from.

iv mentioned this on multiple threads about the filter n ya im jus copy n pasting my reply from another thread about the filter bc it applies here: get rid of filtered words pertaining to sexuality: ex. gay, lesbian, queer, homo, etc promoting these words as "bad words" enforces its continued use as an insult rather than their valid definition in the mind of let's say, an impressionable child (i.e. minecraft's main consumer), perputating these words as "not allowed" will connect the word with negativity when the word in itself, is not
Support. Reasons stated by @Cory , @Chain , and @leafu . (I know this is a 'Discussion', but either way, I support this as a suggestion. ) Also, if you want the message that appears when trying to use the word "Gay" in the chat to be changed, I suggest making a separate thread suggesting that. Since the use of the word "Gay" seems to be the main source of division, writing a friendlier and more accepting message for the censorship of the word would probably get more support than simply suggesting the removal of it entirely. (I'd make this thread myself, however, since you came up with the idea, I'll just leave this as a suggestion. Lastly, I may make it myself if you decide not to though...)
101% support for removing the censor for the word "gay." A lot of things can be used as an insult and start a "huge skinirish." Take the word "fat" for example, it's not a swear word, but it can be offensive to numerous people. The word "fat" can be taken as an insult or to some it's just a descriptive word as the same with "gay." As @CypriotMerks said gay can be used as an insult, but it's not an inappropriate word. If "gay" is censored and considered to be always used as an insult and a swear word, then we should censor "fat," "skinny," "ugly." They can be used as an insult but in reality they're just descriptive words. This server shouldn't be torn apart by such a little problem. If this word is used in a way that sounds like they are truly trying to hurt someone's feelings, then just report them.

Decided to google the words ''lesbian'', ''homo'' and ''gay''. I don't see how lesbian is offensive, inappropriate of a swear word. If someone is a lesbian, that's fine, if they're not, that's fine too. It can be used in an offensive context. Such as ''you're a filthy lesbian'' or ''no lesbians allowed on factions''. The word ''lesbian'' was unfiltered for a long period of time. In that time period I have never, not once, under any circumstances, on any game-mode, seen the word ''lesbian'' used as an offensive word. The word ''homo'' is a similar situation. If someone types or says ''homos are stupid'' ''no homos allowed on this server!'' they were raised with an ignorant and stupid perspective about this planet. Change their perspective instead of blocking out an entire word. Now, I understand why ''gay'' is seen as offensive. Not the man on man or woman on woman definition. But the swear word. Which in my personal opinion shouldn't even be a thing. It's stupid that we consider it as a cuss (curse, cuss, idk) word in general. Similar to the previous examples shown, this word can also be used in an offensive context. Educate the players that these words aren't inappropriate, offensive, or degrading to people. It's not your job. But you're certainly not helping either. From one perspective I see how blocking the word COULD encourage people not to use it, from a different perspective I can also see the exact opposite. Whether you're gay or not shouldn't matter. It shouldn't influence the world. It doesn't make them anything less or more of a human. Stop saying it's anything. We're all human. Whether you're of a different color, country, culture, have a different sexual preference. It doesn't change your human nature. Don't single people out based of their (here we go again) color, country, culture, or sexual preference. Bunch of nonsense to me. Not that big of deal, it is mostly used as an insult, no one is going out all over the server saying "i'm gay" like they're actually gay in real life, no one really cares... It's just like being straight.
