I mean like moderator applications and stuff, because there you're allowed to spam without repercussion. Take UncleUrnesto for example, he spams the mod app section with useless posts. There are flaws with the message count ranking system that would be hard to work out.

The way it is now is perfect. Its takes more then just making messages to get a higher rank. I don't know why anyone would want it changed.

 

I think we should leave it, many users will have a much higher tendency to spam messages.

 

I personally feel it should be trophy points. It's default for a reason and you have the ability to integrate so many custom trophies with XenForo. It can be made more fun.

Also, the trophy system already includes message counts in it lol.

By having it set to messages, players would be more inclined to message farm and post in threads for no reason more than some already do. One word responses or a smiley face would become the norm of a thread.

I think it is great the way it is but it can be improved with more custom trophies.

Message dependant only ranks is a lame way to go.

Messages are good for seeing who's active and all, but trophy points you actually have a set goal to recieve certain things.

Messages are easy to get. "Oh I haven't supported this mod app, or no supported this one. Let me just do that to every mod app and get my messages high." Same for introductions, post "Hi" on every single one.

Trophy points are good because it has different goals and such. You can get awards for messages or likes and such, really Cyp/Noob can make it however they want, so if they want to do it where you base it off of trophy points, but still include messages somewhat, they can make the trophy points give you stuff when you hit a certain amount of messages.

Tl;dr
Trophy points are better because you can do mostly anything with them and give any amount of points for certain awards that will then determine your title.
