However, I do feel I'm missing something as a couple of the responses I've seen are on the fence

 

Most of those seem to be related to folks not really seeing me too much on the forums. I'm a lurker by nature – preferring to read rather than type – but I'm trying to post more and more.

It's either because of that, or folks don't appreciate me giving them an honest rating (i.e. the "dumb" or "disagree" rating). I've never rated for the sole purpose of pissing people off, and explaining myself seems never to quite get through all the way. It's kind of tough, because trying to explain why you rated someone's post as dumb is bound just to offend them more or seem like a flamewar (even though that is never my intent). As a solution nowadays, I try to respond more with a message/comment rather than just a rating.

I feel that those are the two reasons people are on the fence: just not knowing me, or a misunderstanding between us.
