I know that this suggestion will most likely never be accepted, or even looked at, but it's worth a shot.

My suggestion is that Staff Applications are taken away. I think that if we had just a few mods/admins looking around the forums, they would be able to see who they believe would make a great moderator vs. Cyp looking through applications that could so easily be full of lies. Then, the staff members could suggest a few players to Cyp/Crew. If they agree that the player is worthy, they will suggest the position to the player, and they can either deny the offer or accept it.

Idk I'm probably explaining this weird but there's a server where like @Pink and @WolfWhispers and @Javid come from that does this and I personally think that it works a lot better (maybe ya'll could explain it better I don't really have experience there).

    Mineverse isn't like other servers.

If the staff applications weren't open, worse people would be promoted.
It could cause biased promotions, due to staff telling Merkz to promote people without Merkz being able to see how the community reacts to one being promoted or to someone in general.

    EDIT:
I read it wrong. I like the idea of the staff applications though.
    Sorry about that.

I completely agree with this. A person who became a mod just recently made me face palm sooooo hard.

Doesn't cyp look at how does the community look at the person? (Support -> reasons and others)
And what if none of the staff members don't like the person just because he did something or said something wrong once?

I'm sorry if people disagree with me but in my opinion it is a bad idea and we should leave the mod applications at the same position as they are right now.

Someone creating an application can demonstrate the amount of effort and time they're willing to put into a server. I mean, yeah, someone could just post a lot and be active and friendly but an application really seals the deal.

I kinda liked how CCG (the server you mentioned) did their promotions, but the flaw that I saw is that people often change their behavior when staff members are around. They've opened helper applications, and that rank only allows you to kick people in-game until you're trusted enough to be promoted to mod.

People can act fake in game, but a long and detailed application shows that they're being real. Either way, people can fake their personality. The only way to know if a person would make a good addition to the staff team is to give them the chance, because actions do speak louder than words.

I like the idea of having a "trial moderator" that would moderate one gamemode until it's proven that they can handle being a global mod. I think that trial mods should be promoted more often, considering that Cyp does take a while in between moderator promotions.

    Overall, I'm neutral. <:

Honestly, this suggestion isn't bad at all - It probably won't be implemented anytime soon, however, it's still a good idea. Madi, you've gained my support.

    Support,
Moderator Applications don't exactly demonstrate the player's addition to the server.
They can also fairly easily be filled with lies,

Whereas if you had something like this implemented we would actually know
who's worthy of becoming a mod and who isn't.

Fake people are everywhere. They are everywhere and the staff may not be able to see through it. Same goes with moderator applications.

Giving players the option to be promoted or not at random will surprise them. Unless they aim for it. Anyway, players not expecting the invitation may accept
not actually thinking through their decision. Now we have a lot of staff members who don't want to be staff members. Everyone knows what that could lead to.

Moderator applications give players the option to list their qualifications. Observing or waiting for a player to show their qualifications takes time and could be missed.

Exactly; however, they show staff they're
actually willing to join their team (ignoring troll apps), and that is why I cannot support this. Sorry.

I think this is a better way to choose staff in small servers.
