No, you will still have your in-game rank and items. I have changed my alternate accounts name a couple times and each time it kept it's items.

 

are you sure? because when name changing came out and i changed it i had to wait over 4 months before action was taken to restore my rank on all servers

 

When name changing came out there were many bugs. Though a lot of them have been fixed in the past couple of months. You no longer lose your rank/items.

 

Rank and items are kept

 

You will only lose mcmmo stats if you play on mcmmo servers.

 

You will also lose your plots and privates chests and shop chests and anything that is owned by your name and not your account
