Forums Customized Titles

(not even sure if this is possible or not but here we go)​

So, there has been a few suggestions to add another forum title after Boss Member, but some disagreement on what the title should be named.
I think it would be a neat idea to reward long-term, active forum members by giving them the ability to customize their own title.

This feature would be unlocked when a user is at (or very close to) to the maximum amount of trophy points one can receive. This means that the only people who will be receiving this have earned the 3 years and 5000 posts trophy, plus anything before that.

• Depending on whether or not new trophies will be added soon, this feature would be unlocked at or around 380 points. The user will then have the option to leave their title as Boss Member or change it.
• Maybe more trophies should be added before this is added?
• There could be a cool down period or a limit on how many times you could change it.

Questions that may be asked:
Q. But what if people abuse this by making their title inappropriate?
A. People can already do this by putting inappropriate things into their locations, it would not be any different.

Q. Wouldn't this make the forums look messy?
A. As of now, there are only a handful of active users who have achieved or come close to the maximum amount of trophy points. Plus, I don't think it would be a big deal anyway.

It says in the suggestion that it will be unlocked at like 380 points.

If you're a little confused from when I mentioned leaving it at Boss Member, I mean that the user either has the option to leave their title as Boss Member or customise it once they reach 380 points.

Yeah but what happens when someone changes theirs to retired head mod when they were not? It would just cause problems and potentially confuse users who come on the forums, especially if they change their name to staff ranks. If I went on a different forum and saw a staff custom title, I'd assume they are and perfectly reasonably so. Nuetral.

 

You raise a good point. Maybe there could be a set of rules for this feature? Or maybe (if possible) disallow users to type certain things in.
Head Mods would have the permission to change people's titles, just like locations.
I also don't think it would be too difficult to keep abuse of this under control, considering only a handful of people will achieve it.

There is a XenForo add-on for this. It also allows for restrictions for certain groups. So for instance you wouldn't be able to call yourself an ''ex-owner'' if a forum administrator denies that to your group. (Will link if I bother to look for it).
