I think the new shield pvp would be great and the charge hitting would stop some of the major hacks that mods look for, No Support/Neutral It'd be nice to try it out.

100% support. I was done with 1.9 when I found out about strength pots. :mad: All the crap in 1.9 is in NO way worth Shields.
The reason I don't like 1.9 is not because of the shield. It's because of the stupid strength pot nerf.
Not everything that is powerful is OP. Its so powerful cause its so freakin' expensive to make. Now if you made a strength pot it would be a waste of supplies.
I guess it depends whether or not they can do that easily. Some people might not want to leave everything they've worked for on the the other server too. A good idea though, it would be cool to have the best of both worlds.
I would hate to have to play infection on 1.9, you need to charge your sword to do extra damage and all this really irritating stuff. I would really rather stay on 1.8
I haven't looked much into the new update, it definitely sounds like it makes PVP a lot different. But however; mineverse isn't just PVP. We have other survival related game modes which would be interesting to have new blocks on. A lot of players will be eager to update to 1.9, and then when mineverse isn't 1.9, what will they do? Play somewhere else. No doubt there will be flaws to this new update, and yes change is scary. But I say give it a go. Could always just make the server 1.8 if it turns out to be terrible .
