Evening again, Mr. Poseidon. I apologize for the time between your request and this review; the 4th of July holiday is pretty intense for Americans. No-one has ever accused me of managing my schedule very well and you can see the results here.

Regardless I have a moment tonight, so let's review. As a reminder the rules of the game are One Drink for grammar errors, Two Drinks for spelling mistakes and a Shot every time you go off topic. Rehab is for quitters and I have Viking ancestry. TYR!!

This is not on the templa-
Wait, one moment. The template questions may be different between servers. Checking.

•takes a shot• No they are not. There isn't a question on the template (link) regarding your age, sir. Thank you for the extra information; it can't hurt your application to list this so leave it in if you like.

      CerealSpit.jpg
Thank you for contributing to my Jackson Pollock tribute.

Nice to meet you, Mr. Hoe. You have more names than a CIA informant.

I may be wrong about this but didn't Mojang implement account name changes around February of '15...? So that would mean you have been switching roughly every month and a half. Unless you are running from the police you can cut your answer down to just "Call me ChainHoe" without any negative impacts on your application, sir.

+1, thank you for listing an offset for your time zone sir. A lot of applications go directly into a woodchipper about this point-- my favorite answer so far was a kiddo that simply said "TEXAS".

+1 for helping William Wallace at Falkirk. I know it never happened but that movie made me want to buy a claymore and run around screaming "FREEEEEEEEDOMMMM".

Perhaps with a little Connacht accent? I am highly interested.

A hundred and thirty reviews later I still have no idea what this question means. Is "F2" not good enough? Is there some sort of forensic accounting standard before you can ban someone for telling you to eat a bag of smashed anus?

      NeedSandwich.jpg
I need this like Hillary needs a Gmail account.

I am more excited than a fat kid at a free sample table. This question is really the only reason I enjoy reading applications so much. So far you are doing pretty well, keep it up!

...now I am more disappointed than a Trump supporter on a debate team.

      Mr. Hoe--
This is a job application. Ignore the fact it is unpaid, part-time and horribly abusive: You are applying to join a position with responsibilities and more than a little positional/expert authority. The purpose of a job application is to showcase the skills you have that would best fit the position you want.

You're blowing this like a North Korean missile test.

Take a moment to think about everything you believe someone in authority should demonstrate. Grab a pen and paper (or a tablet?) and write it down. What do you think a staff member needs? Integrity and loyalty are usually high on the list, as are dedication and mentoring. An ability to handle obscene amounts of dirt might be helpful. Write down what qualities you think would make you stand out.

Chop your list to your top 5 -- any more than that gets self-referential and tl;dr (kind of like this review). Take your top five and write a paragraph about each to describe why each quality makes you a special snowflake. A good qualification paragraph usually has these components:
      1. A topic sentence.
      2. Why the qualification matters.
      3. Supporting statement.
      4. Second supporting statement.
      5. (Optional) Example situation, or closing sentence.
      For example:
"Patience is invaluable as a Moderator[1]. Being able to deal with every player's situation in a calm, efficient manner helps them build trust that their issues are important and we are taking them seriously[2]. In every conversation I strive be calm and reasonable, this is easily seen in public chat[3]. I have helped many players through reporting grief, listening to their issues or trying to work with them to resolve a crisis[4]. Although it can be hard to go the extra mile I believe in the end having patience makes a better staff member[5]."

Probably not the best example, Mr. Hoe. I hope it is enough for you to get the general idea.

      LoveThread.jpg
Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur...

Gong to need a little more than that, sir. What are the Hoe's hours? It is nice that you will be available every day but... when? Are you the legendary "Midnight Moderator" that bans spam in the night? Or perhaps a morning person, evilly chuckling over coffee while muting those who dare defy the rules?

A schedule will only help, sir. At the very least the person hiring you might need people for a certain time slot and you could get picked up. Can't hurt.

+1 for commitment. It is hard to stick with a hobby for 6% of your entire life. Nicely done sir.

+1 again for not going into an unnecessary back story on this question. Nobody wants to see that dirty laundry.

      AngryFace.jpg
Weird to use the "angry face" on a good quality.

List your experience! The #1 thing all hiring managers look for is experience in the job. This is a huge step above the other applications if you have already done the job before. Explain! You do not have to go overboard, simply throw down something like "Yes. I was in charge of investigating grief and refunding players for over a year".

Sidenote: This does not have to be Minecraft-only. If you have "real world" experience like managing a call center, running a debate team or being captain of a football... uh... squad?... then list it. Any position where you manage a group of people and get them working together would probably help.

Well that was an interesting, but short, read. Thank you for requesting a review Mr. Hoe. I would highly recommend revisiting your "Why should I be a Moderator" section and going to town on that thing like a candy-filled piñata.

Best of luck to you in the future, sir.

Referring to the part of this review which you have hidden, I am incapable of viewing such hidden information as I cannot rate posts.

There was a question regarding age on the template up until May the 7th, I have chosen to keep that question there.

No, my accent is fairly "neutral".

Why exactly are you disappointed? I'm not sure what moderator application you're referring to but I'm referring to the official one made by Noobcrew located here : http://www.mineverse.com/threads/updated-mod-application-template-read-before-posting.1/
      upload_2016-7-6_8-24-45.png

What I see here is a very simple question with a very simple answer, if Noobcrew so desired me to answer this question explicitly than perhaps he should've asked.

The purpose of this application is actually, well, to inform the owners and other individuals that I want to become a moderator. There is very few skills I can actually show-case on this application, two being : My ability to lie; my fluency in the English language. Of course, I could say I am "Mature", but what I say and what I may actually be can be very different things. The owners know this and I'd say that they don't believe a word that is said in that section of the application unless it's proven elsewhere, for example, in game. And I have proven my maturity in game.

[/QUOTE=Myrmidous]Take a moment to think about everything you believe someone in authority should demonstrate. Grab a pen and paper (or a tablet?) and write it down. For an individual that points out when people go off topic in terms of the questions asked in the template, I'm shocked that you're asking me to think about these irrelevant questions, and actually implying that I should type the answers out. What I think a staff member needs doesn't matter, what Noobcrew/CypriotMerks/Head-moderators think a moderator needs is what is important. By "an ability to handle obscene amounts of dirt", I'm going to assume you mean disrespect, I enjoy being disrespected, it makes my day, especially when it's funny.

      Going*

Anyways, I do come on for more than one hour everyday. Will I come on during my midnight? No. The times I can be on are the times of day in which I find little to no moderators online. Here is a screenshot of the in game staff list, their heads turn into player heads if they're online. As you can see there is one staff member online, however much of the time there isn't even a staff member on.

To be honest I've only moderated one very small server. As for "real world" work experience, well, it amounts to nothing.

      Thank you.

My application isn't small, it's just the right size. You cannot judge someone by their application either, if we did this then the staff team would be full of bad people who had good applications.

Alright, you can, but you're doing a very foolish thing. Also, it's not small, you should do your research on how long applications should be by referring to the official guidelines on how to make a moderator application.
