On Saturday, June 25th, the prison server experienced an issue that corrupted many player's accounts. They lost their inventory, contents of e-chests, cash balance, all set homes. I've also heard that a few have lost their physical bases and even their plots. There could be other issues too. Has anyone heard anything from anyone who can fix the problem? 3. What caused this problem? Have there been any measures put in place to prevent it from happening in the future? 4. Does anyone know if there are regular backups performed on these servers? If so, then there would be a chance to restore to a good backup/check point. 5. Does anyone know what time this all first happened? I logged on at 7:20 PM PST (UTC-8) and I first saw a message that said "You are not permitted to enter this area." then I was dropped in to warp. Then all kinds of messages were coming up in chat where everyone else was reporting that their inventory and echests were empty, balances were lost, set homes were cleared, etc... Hopefully there is a fix (roll back/restore from backup) that can be applied. Thanks, Blue
I hope that its restored, but I think some kind of reset is happening? I didn't lose my stuff though.
The owners are most likely aware as one of our head-moderators/staff managers lost her echest on prison, I think it's too late for a roll-back now though as too much time has passed.
I would think what little progress that someone could make in less than one day would be more important than months of work being lost. I would also think the biggest issue is if there is even a back up that can be restored from. With all of the major updates in the last week they may not have had a chance to take a backup. Hopefully they do have regular backups in place.
I didn't lose my sethomes nor my stuff in ender chest but my base let it's place to a TNT tower... :I I think it got raided though
You're saying this as if they performed a backup recently, which I doubt. Kit and OP had issues as well, and were never rolled back.
I lost my whole balance, all my /homes were deleted, my enderchest was cleared. I also lost god mode & green name, basically it means I got reset.
Welcome to the club :P I lost everything on Kit and OP. Luckily I got 50k of my 75+ k, but I still lost a crap ton of rares. It's a shame to see this happening to MV on many of its servers..
GizzBots, I guess I'm just trying to be optimistic. Since a few days have passed and there is no official word I suspect there are no backups or at least things will remain as is. Yeah, it took me a lot of effort to build up my measly $2 million and the stuff I had on me and in my e-chest. Its odd, since one expects their inventory to be lost if killed/dies, but e-chest is generally a safe bet. This changes the risks in the game and makes even plots and signed chests risky too. I guess I'm starting to accept that there is no safe way to store anything. This has also changed my perspective on a possible Prison reset. I've been dedicating a ton of effort in working on mcMMO skills and have worked my way up to be in the top 40 as far as total power over the last few months. So I can see where someone new (like myself) can actually work up in their mcMMO standings under the old pigmen behavior and have a chance at making it in to the top 10/20 eventually. But under the new pigmen era there basically is no way this can happen for the combat related skills if you are strictly relying on naturally spawned mobs out in the wilderness since they are so rare (can travel for 15+ minutes with no mobs). GizzBots, sorry to hear about your loss too, but I suspect the state of these servers is more a symptom of the long life of these servers and the many updates they have gone through over the years. Java is an awesome language, but after running for years and going through upgrades it is very susceptible to corruption (speaking from personal experience). Yeah, still trying to remain optimistic.
I didn't mean to be rude in any way, just more or less realistic. I was referring to the fact that I'm pretty sure that Cyp doesn't do 'backups' due to the amount of servers, time and effort that would be required to do that. As for the other servers having problems, it's not because of the updates/life of these servers as you'd think logically, in fact that rarely go through updates. Tbh it's due to the fact that they are uncared for and nothing is invested into them. Look at Towny? Where'd that go? GTA is essentially in Beta. KitPvP and OP PvP have maps that do not look professional in any way, shape or form. OP Prison receives updates when its economy is broken. Cyp believes that 'OP server should not be reset because they're meant to be OP' And the list goes on...
