A test on the rules would be better, I doubt this will happen though. There is no need for moderators to know the rules off by heart as long as they just go back to some guidelines page in terms of rules and punishments.

      Neutral.

I would love to see a moderator test, because it's like that test and Q&A when you are applying for a job.It could really show the personality of the applicant in depth and their ability to respond to certain cases. There's also an odd thing where when some Mods get demoted or resign, they just stop listening to rules???Maybe it will show their true form as well.
Maybe even add a video test where they can see whether a person is a hacker or not.

This, is what I would love to see happen.
I had mentioned it a few times before, and unless things have changed, I don't believe they have added it.

Because they're not reading the thread and they're not smart enough to see all angles of things.

I don't think you fully comprehend how much work goes into choosing and suggesting moderators. Yes, I am part of that committee. It is not just Cypriot contrary to popular belief. If someone is applying for popularity, it will show in their work. We know who is who most of the time and if you are trying to gain popularity points with your friends by getting mod, you simply won't get the position if it is sensed. We expect by now that if people choose to apply for mod, they should have a rudimentary understanding of the rules and how things work. If they don't we have a training system that should educate them on that.

3 days? I don't know where this user got the information from but it's false. Moderators are mentored through their training period by chosen senior staff. They are together for up to 1 month. A mentor is someone that a new mod can always go to for help questions, etc. They are buddied up. Please understand we also have chosen people whom are in charge of answering questions when the mentor is away. They are offered plenty of help and if need be, Pile and I are here.

This suggestion is not needed. Enough research is done already when choosing staff. After all, it is not the job of a player to worry about staff training and well being. That is what Pile and I are here for. A test was done as TADS has said but eventually the head moderators overruled it as it proved to do nothing as most staff knew everything they needed to at the time. It was not effective, maybe we can bring it back in the future if needed.

eh idk neutral pretty much, could work, but also mods would just have to know the rules at the test then they could forget them.

Neutral, though a test is a good idea this would be extremely easy to cheat on.

      ^

Even though I got demoted, it was a really smart idea to see if the applicant actually knows their moderating skills, or if they are just a bunch of lies in one.

Support if they stopped doing this :)

      I do not support.
This test can easily be cheated on first off, I can literally just be on the webpage itself and answer the questions from there. Second, staff are picked partially for their experience on mineverse, so that they are fully aware of how the rules work. The committee doesnt lightly pick moderators as it used to be, when there was no committee and people were picked at random. Finally, new moderators now have a something valueble I never got as a guard starting out, a mentor. Assigning a mentor to new staff to follow them and fill them in is such a great idea that was nevrr a thing back then, where you learned from trial and error.

When somebody new is promoted, it is because the Head Moderators and Admins trust them enough with the responsibilities. These people are recognised to have (fair) knowledge and understanding of the rules. But, they aren't just left at that. All Moderators go through a training period in which they learn their duties, responsibilities and the punishment guide.
If a Moderator makes a mistake or false ban after that, I wouldn't blame the 'lack of training'.

I'm not Gona name the staff member, but i saw clear abusing of power and being biast, some staff only get picked because they have a lot of positives in the forums and because people say support or no support which it's really unfair because they might not even know how good they r.
I agree staff should be picked because they would do well not because of ^

This isn't like school, you want the mods go study? The mods we have now we're perfect since day one...
They chose them because they are capable.
