a lot happens when you're mod...& I agree with elrak...if you sign up to be moderator you have to know the consequences of having so much power... people will give you hate for literally anything...but that definitely isn't a reason to resign... there would be players that would threaten to ddos me & sht and call me names and literally harass me for weeks (for muting!) and it would obviously be overwhelming...but nothing i couldn't handle...if you can't handle hate you shouldn't be a moderator... ~yes~ some mods do abuse [rarely!] but that doesn't mean the server is corrupted !!! give the mods some respect ! this is just a game & they have a life of their own. if they're inactive its no one's problem but cypriot's to handle.
Oh my god, this is so right. It's not just mineverse, but like any type of online staff. I've found that you're there to do a job, not to please others. I keep nothing I do outside Mineverse/Skyblock connected to the servers. Otherwise people will get butthurt and try to find something to harass you about because you banned them or something. When it comes down to it, you're banned, and normally rightfully so. It's something people need to deal with rather than taking it out on people who are just doing their job. Well written btw :p
Honestly I think more people need to read this. The amount of arguments between people on a mod and how people are treating a mod is ridiculous. I wish this didn't happen. Thank you for volunteering your time and putting up with the horrible people to try and make the server better. Keep being a wonderful mod!
100% Agreed. The players of mineverse don't care anymore they disrespect the mods and act like they are useless. I think it is disrespectful SO much!! And I want it to change :/
Honestly I feel as though if you are a moderator you can toggle on / off to say if you are online or not on /staff. The amount of people targeting you because you either banned them or their friends is highly annoying and hard to deal with. Either that or mods need to get some type of /v so they can play in peace and actually be active instead of just coming on to do reports. I rarely see the mods playing the gamemodes, most of the time they come on and do a few reports and get off. I would like to see mods actually playing the gamemodes instead of just flying around and talking to people. Some how there needs to be a way for mods to actually play the gamemodes without getting targeted spammed and yelled at constantly. I think we just need A LOT more mods but there may be other solutions.
Agreed with everything above (apart from what PvPKings stated). Moderators are just humans, and the server has indeed been victimized by DDoS and hackers, and since there are so many, I understand you are doing whatever you can, yet I understand it is truly extremely difficult. Players have no idea what you're going through, becoming a Moderator is a JOB, not a new rank you should play around with. You people are doing your best to keep the server safe from rule-breakers so that we can have more fun, and even though there's still tons of them around, it would've been MUCH worse without you. Besides, you need your breaks too!
I'm still a huge fan of the school of thought that a simple thank you can make a Staff member's life infinitely easier. Not just to let them know when they are doing a good job, but to encourage them to keep on doing what they do. Inevitably when placed in a position of power, there are a number of different personalities that will be shown to you. Not everyone appreciates the work that goes into keeping a community like Mineverse moving in the right direction. There will always be the those out there with a toxic attitude. They will try to tear players, staff, or the community down out of a sense of self achievement. The staff is the largest factor in keeping this type of toxicity off of the forums and out of the game and trust me...it never ends. The biggest key for what is often seen on forums, in game, etc, is the negative. I often liken this to when you go to a restaurant and get bad food. You are far more likely to tell people to not go there or the food was bad or whatever. What we DO NOT see, are the positive stories as much. Thing back to the last time you went to a restaurant. Did you leave a good review on a website or tell the server how good of a job they did? Probably not. This logic very much applies to Mineverse. Most of what is seen on the forums or in-game are the bad things. Sadly this is simple human nature. We expect the good so we don't think of it as special and when things go badly we latch on to it and don't forget. So what does this mean for the staff? Tell them "Good Job" , "Thank you", etc. Trust me from being there, Moderator is often a thankless job. Either you do what someone wants and they go on about their business, or you tell them "No" and you are the bad guy. Make sure to let them know you appreciate what they do. It makes a huge difference to them for something so small. NOTE: This is not to say Moderators do it for the thanks or anything like that, but nevertheless, think when someone compliments you. You remember it and it makes your day a little better. The staff is an amazing group to try to work with such a large and diverse community on a day to day basis. So in closing... THANK YOU! Cheers, Melgrath
You need to take a good look at yourself. Are you going to actually change anything by complaining? No, so stop hating. This is the reason you get hated, because you don't even understand what it is like having to suffer whilst trying to moderate a whole server.
Not today m8. xD This post is not about the hate you get, hate are only words. Hacking and harass to the point of someone actually looking for your irl address tell you the name of family members, hacking, etc. Is what I wanted to talk here. <3 I hope you get back soon. Can you explain yourself here?
You're right. I think I was trying to reply to someone who replied, but I do understand the point of your thread.
If course a lot of players would get mad and target moderators who ban them / their friends for unjust reasons especially on PvP servers when the Moderator doesn't understand all aspects of fighting in PvP and understanding the obvious but sometimes hard difference between Hackers and Legit players, This is probably one of the main reasons Moderators get targeted because a lot of the players find it unfair they get banned for something like lag which makes it look like kill aura or something ridiculous like that.
Yes, when you had banned someone and everyone got ticked, I had said all you were doing was what you signed up for.
