    Hello guys!

I've been wondering to make one of these threads to make it useful for the moderators/players to not share private information.

    What is DDos?

    What is DoX?

As for DoXing, people around the world could leak information using apps, websites, etc. They release private & personal information on the Internet. Researching & Broadcasting personally identifiable information about an individual person.

DDos & DoXing can be easily done by Skype. As there aren't many users for Skype, it's usually to keep them aware of just going through their IP. Using the IP can resolve much information from the following user. There are ways to protect your-self from these kind of situations.

    Protection/Guidance :

    1. On Skype, click Tools, then go to Options.
    2. A new interface will show up. Navigate to Advanced, then click on Connection.
    3. Use port 32535 for incoming connections.
    4. Check "Use port 80 and 443 for additional incoming connections."
    5. Select "HTTPS" from the dropdown menu.
    6. Put the Host as 127.0.0.1 and the Port as 40031.
    7. Uncheck "Enable Proxy Authentication" if it is checked.
    8. Uncheck "Enable uPnP" if it is checked.
    9. Check "Allow direct connections to your contacts only."

Your Connection options should look like this:
    http://gyazo.com/30e9136b8a9dfba4eb5582ff3f16fff2

Useful guidelines for safely surfing the Internet include:

    • Don't give out personal information (name, age, address, phone number, social security number) to strangers.
    • Never meet in person with an online stranger unless you get your parent's permission and have them come with you.
    • Never invite a stranger to come meet you in person or call you at your home.
    • Don't open attachments from strangers (or friends) without scanning them with an up-to-date anti-virus program.
    • Tell your parents right away if online interaction makes you feel uncomfortable or scared.
    • Use an online name that doesn't reveal your gender or age. A bad choice would be Mary_12; better names are "oaktree99", "grasshopper", and other gender and age neutral monikers.
    • Use passwords that meet the highest standards of privacy. Avoid using common words, pet names, or common word combinations. Instead, use combinations of upper and lowercase letters/characters along with numbers. And, don't give your password out to anyone.
    • Set up a separate e-mail account for times that you must provide an e-mail address to then be able to trap unwanted "spam". Several free services like www.hotmail.com or www.yahoo.com are ideal for this. Be sure to set the options for maximum privacy when creating such an account.
    • Use a firewall program, which restricts the flow into and out of a computer connected to a network. This will minimize the threat of intrusion, especially if you have a cable or DSL account that is always connected to the Internet.
    • Maintain operating system updates to close vulnerabilities as they become known.
    Proxy:

By default, Skype will attempt to automatically detect your proxy settings. To specify the exact proxy settings that Skype will use, choose an alternative option from the drop down menu. Enter the Host and Port details of the proxy server. If your proxy requires authentication, tick Enable proxy authentication.

I may add more information later...

    Thanks for reading!

Skype made it so that your IP is hidden and that you cannot be DDoSed, but even then it's stupid to give strangers your Skype..
    This should be stickied btw

    Stranger Danger ;)

They supposedly made it this way, and yet people are still getting DDOS'd through it daily. Many of them happen to be my friends. So I definitely don't trust that they fixed it.

What a lammer... You know that Skype doesn't use peer to peer system anymore right? Its useless to do that proxy thing because the Skype resolvers don't work anymore...

    This is useless atm...

If you're going to copy and paste information from online that's already there, cite where you get the information next time.

There are more than 1 way to gain a person's IP. IP loggers are widely used, and annoying to detect unless specifically checking for them.

The most common way to get an IP has been fixed though.
