I was reading the guide made to a good ban appeal which was posted by @TADS4. While reading I noticed that it said "Only invalid bans can be appealed for" "Valid Bans will not be accepted" but what if the person in question banned has learned their lesson and is truly genuine about it? Would they just stay banned? I'm posting this in discussion as it is a question rather than suggesting a rule change.

Bans are now temp-bans. They only last for a set amount of time.

This is something different. We temporary ban him/her from the gamemode. It's not like before when we perm banned them, and decided to accept or deny if they appealed.

Anyone can say they learned their lesson, but they haven't. There are always many people repeating the same like,'' I won't do this again.'' Next you find out that person is banned again for the same reason or something else.

They should be grateful that it's only 3-31 days, than 1 month-months like before. Maybe even they won't be unbanned at all, but just stay banned forever in that gamemode.

    They will stay banned.
Even if they have "learnt" their lesson.

Well the person shouldn't have been breaking the rules in the first place.

Or someone could easily type " I have learned my lesson" and they can be unbanned easily. That was a big problem when the mods were handling all appeals because of perm bans.

Then maybe make them wait a certain amount of time before they can appeal. I believe the players should be given a second chance.

They do get a second chance after 30 days.

Some people are unaware of the rules. I have been banned in the past because /rules doesn't mention anything about glitch exploiting, so I appealed and mentioned that I didn't know the official rules were on the forums. However, people with a forums account should be fully aware of ALL ingame rules and should be dealt with accordingly.

ive been banned for false trials :/ i got unbanned because i could appeal. in real life a murderer can appeal in court, so it should be aloud in MC

Yes, a murderer can appeal. But a murderer can not go to court and say 'I have learnt my lesson and it won't happen again' and be let free straight away. They must either wait out their sentence or wait for possible parole.

But, this isn't the real world and no one is breaking real world laws so you can not even compare the two. The current 'wait out your ban if it is valid' system is great and should be kept that way.

But what if the ban is permanent? And they truly have learnt their lesson?

Then there is a very slim chance of being accepted. To be permanently banned, you must have done something worth one, or repeated offenses, thus not learning your lesson the first few times.

i agree 100% no doubt. However, my only concern is if someone is wrongly banned (as i have) for not breaking the rules.

You can't appeal your bans unless they are invalid or permanent. Otherwise, you may not within valid bans. It is how Cyp and Crew want it. It is not up for debate.

Oh, I wasn't told it was for permanent bans as well. Thank you for clearing this up, feel free to lock this thread.

okay so ONLY perm bans can be appealed? I thought the post was about stopping ALL bans from being appealed.

Then you may appeal, as you believe it is an invalid ban. :)
