It's pretty annoying seeing moderators resign after short spaces of time, that is under three months. Some resignations after such a short time are completely okay, for example, a loved one dieing, parents getting divorced etc, something that cannot be foreseeable. However, what I fail to understand, is why someone would apply to be a moderator if they knew they would have important exams within the next 2-5 months, and would resign because they need to study. It doesn't make any sense, don't apply if you have something important that may force you to resign within 3 months. I think something should be implemented, for example, if someone gets accepted as moderator but then resigns 1-2 months later, I think they should be unable to apply again for the next three months. Not only will this give others a chance at becoming moderator, but it will make people really think if they can really keep up a moderator position for a neat amount of time before they apply. This would lower resignations and thus raise the number of mods. Please keep this in the discussion section for now because I want to discuss it with others and see what they think.
The reason Herf and Valor resigned was to toxicity. They did their job perfectly. It's how you, the players treat them. Sure, we can seem tough and all at times, but you guys treat us terrible. Going off of this, no. This is a bad idea. I don't see any point in this. If we were to promote 7 moderators like you suggested, we would run out of people applying. Who says we need mods? It's a process that we go to, to find people that would actually work for being moderator. Moderators pick people-> head-mods make their picks-> Cypriot makes final call.
Some people thought they could moderate and study at the same time,it happens.I think they shouldn't recruit more mods in the light of exams though,It does get depressing seeing the resignation posts because they just got recruited when exams came.
If you can't handle the toxicity then don't apply , sorry if that sounds sort of rude but it's really the truth. And I'm not sure you mean by "who says we need mods", we most certainly cannot have a server without moderators if that's what you're suggesting. And what's wrong with running out of people applying if we have a good solid moderator team?
The thing is, they're treated like a normal player, given a great attitude before their promoted. Once they become a moderator, people expect so much more from them, having high expectations.
As long as a moderator performs his/her job nothing any player or group of players says means anything.
Mods are human.Humans don't like being bashed by several tens,or hundreds of players because of their impossible standards.
Once again, if you're not the type of human who can handle that kind of thing, then you shouldn't be applying.
Then you're not human. And I just realized,I know now why mods are very quiet to people in the community. Not much support.
I don't care what people say about me online, I don't know you and you don't know me, what anyone here thinks of me, means nothing. Perhaps this is something only I own, or maybe more have it, I'm not sure. But I'm human and I wouldn't resign because of people.
Bleh,I guess CeruleanBlue was just an obscure figure that said Hi.And what are you getting at,saying you wouldn't resign because of people?
I'd never resign because of people, if I were to be promoted, the only reason I'd see suitable for resigning would be something serious happening, for example, a loved one dieing , and even then, I wouldn't even say I'd resign.
You forget the people behind that screen aren't AI or a computer talking, those are people, and they are saying some nasty opinion about you.
Ok honestly. This idea isn't that smart. In like 2013 and stuff moderators usually resigned because of school or personal issues. I understand why half of them have vanished. They get no respect whatsoever. KitPvP is toxic and that's where @Herf hung out the most. I saw what happened there, and it isn't very pleasant. People bashed Herf the whole amount of time he was ever on there. Any tiny little thing he slipped up on, boom, reported or threatened. I think if everyone were just a tad more nicer to everyone even if you don't like them, people wouldn't be leaving. This suggestion is good I guess, but the easiest fix to it, is if people would treat each other better. most hypocritical statement ever but gotta have an opinion on this.
Absolutely. If you think this "job" isn't stressful, you have no idea what we/I do here. People apply for many reasons. Not all know what they are getting into until they are staff. It's more than reports and appeals. The spam in game has to be the one most overwhelming thing I've had to deal with on this server. Once promoted there is no "enjoying" this server the way you might have before. "Playing"... ya that doesn't happen. You are clocked in and the spam you see in chat when I join a server is only part of it. My PM spam is CRAZY. Sometimes I wish you guys had social spy just to see the amount of PM spam I get in game. This server is overwhelming. It's hard work and there's almost no gratitude for any of it. Hell, I don't even get paid here and I work harder here than on the other 2 servers that pay me! It's crazy. The harder you work here the more hate you get too. Lmfao XD I think it's easy to judge looking in from the outside, but guaranteed you would be eating every damn word once you saw it from this angle. tl;dr? People resign and they are allowed that. This job isn't for everyone. The idea that they shouldn't be able to resign when they choose is silly. This job isn't easy and it's not getting any easier. lol
