Mineverse Lawyers v.1 (1) Introduction Mineverse lawyers are people who, if added, will defend players who have infracted Mineverse rules. Those players can choose to have a Mineverse lawyer defend them once* per case. If so, all evidence against a Mineverse lawyer's client must be given to the client's Mineverse lawyer for examination. If evidence provided by staff clearly shows a client is guilty, the Mineverse lawyer's client will be punished. If the evidence provided to the Mineverse lawyer is invalid or missing, the client of that Mineverse lawyer will be deemed innocent of that case. A player can chose any Mineverse lawyer*. This whole suggestion is a sort of firewall that will protect innocent players from being punished. If players are guilty anyway, no harm is done. Mineverse lawyers will be counted as staff members. *Unless: (a) the Mineverse lawyer becomes inactive, or (b) the Mineverse lawyer is de-promoted, or (c) the Mineverse lawyer cannot handle the case, with a valid reason. (2) Mineverse Lawyer Rules A Mineverse lawyer is expected to: (a) be un-bias in all of their cases, and (b) be respectful to all of their current client(s), and (c) handle cases in a professional manner. If any Mineverse lawyer breaks any of those rules, their actions shall be reviewed by staff members, and they shall be considered for de-promotion. These rules only apply to Mineverse lawyers, they do not apply to users who are not Mineverse lawyers. (3) Mineverse Lawyer Permissions A Mineverse Lawyer can: (a) see ban appeals and reports, and (b) edit thread titles, and (c) move threads, and (d) access the staff forum or at least access certain areas of the staff forum, and (e) see hidden content, and (f) access all user profiles. A Mineverse lawyer cannot: (a) deny cases, and (b) deny clients, and (c) enforce Mineverse rules. A Mineverse lawyer will have: (a) a coloured username, and (b) the title: Lawyer, and (c) a banner saying: Staff Member. (4) Applying For Mineverse Lawyer To apply for Mineverse lawyer, a player must follow the Mineverse lawyer application template. Players can apply in the forum "Moderator Applications." (4A) Mineverse Lawyer Application Template Age: Location: Timezone: Languages: Qualifications: Activeness online: Infraction history: Experience with staff ranks: (5) FAQ Q: What's the benefit of having Mineverse lawyers? A: Innocent users won't be punished as often. Q: It can be abused. A: Everything can. Q: It would make ban appealing complicated. A: Sorry. Q: Why can't staff inspect the evidence? A: They can? Q: Seems like a waste of time. A: I doubt the punished innocent people would agree. Mineterria.
Very interesting idea, Mods do view both sides of the case, If you see our staff chat (which you won't) it's mainly clarifing bans and reports. We take appeals and reports seriously. If a player really feels they have been falsely banned and have had appeals knocked back they can always message a Head Mod.
No support. I've intervened in bans when I felt something was wrong by simply messaging the mod involved. Its a service that doesn't require a title, just care for the community. Sorry I just don't think anything official will happen, especially for new ranks.
Wasn't this suggestion made before by you? Anyways its not really needed, false bans are fairly rare anyways, and cypriot usually resolves them quickly.
It's a really cool idea but I honestly don't think it's going to happen. Anyhow, I do support. Good luck!
Not sure about this,a person accused of hacking could make an easy appeal if they have the evidence they did not hack.Neutral.
If a player has been banned it is because they have done something wrong, usually, and the moderators have evidence of this wrong doing. I don't know why you'd want to add a middle man to slow the whole process down and make things complicated. If a player has been falsely banned, they can make and appeal and will get unbanned if they show sufficient evidence that they have not done something wrong. I'm not sure why a lawyer would be needed anywhere there. To sum it up, what would a mineverse lawyer be able to show which the actual banned player wouldn't?
