Hello. :> Recently I have noticed that a lot of staff members have been making their profiles private for many different reasons, and I don't really think that should be allowed. One reason being that many new members do/will not know how to inbox people directly on the forums if they need help, and two, if a player is being disrespectful or rate abusing on their profile, they have the ability to handle those things. (In no way am I calling anyone out for doing this, by the way. I am just stating why I believe that it should be a requirement for staff to keep their profiles open.) Thank you.
I understand why they're doing it, but I support. There really just needs to be a way for staff members to simply remove ratings instead of having to remove posts from rate abuse.
You don't think it's unfair to new players who are in seek of help to not be able to access your profile?
It's kind of annoying when you need help with something and you can't ask staff on their profile directly though. :p But okay thanks for your reply :>
If they can find our profiles, then they can find the help section to post in. No support, even though my profile is unlocked at this time. Edited to add, also, for those that do lock their profiles, I completely understand. Most of you don't realize the hate we receive for doing our jobs, as well as the rate abuse that we receive as well. Yes it can be deleted, but it becomes a pain in the behind and sometimes hinders us from doing our jobs because of having to handle it.
Oh I think it's unfair, and that's why I don't do it. However, to completely remove the ability to lock our profiles would be totally stupid. If a mod wanted to not be rate abused, or to have their profile private, they should be able to do so.
Multiple threads on the same topic can get repetitive, though, as most won't think of looking through the others to check if their question has already been answered. I just find it easier to be able to go to a staff member's profile and ask them there, so that the help section isn't spammed with simple, short-answered questions. Ty for your reply
I know that's a possibility, I just think it would be simple if moderators (who are here to help), had their profile's open for new players who wouldn't know how to start private conversation. Just my opinion.
If it is an easy fix, it will be locked soon. It's not mandatory to be able to post on a mod's profile to be able to have a question answered.
Regular users can edit their profile privacy as they wish. Staff should be able to do the same. Stating that staff should not have the same privacy privileges as you is unfair.
Why can't we have the same privacy rights? I don't get it. Anyone can PM me, my profile is not needed as a way to contact me. Most comments there anyways are not serious.
Staff members volunteered to help the community, unlike most of the regular members. What's the point of being there to help, when people can't easily contact you directly? If you're not willing to allow posts on your profile, then you're limiting the ways for people to get help, which is ultimately what your job is.
