The Shout Box was apparently on forums when it first came out It's a good way to chat and have a blast and I'm addressing below positives being why it should be added and some negatives you may say below with resolutions along with What it actually is so lets start. What Is Shout box: Shout box is a chat room type system and or thing if you own a facebook account and you want to talk to someone you generally open that small little box beside your screen and that's roughly the size of the shout box. Positives 1. Shout Box can be an alternative good way to speak with the staff team allowing people to post questions and thankful messages without having to visit their wall or start a conversation with them because they limit access to who can view and or post on their wall. 2. Shout Box could be a good feedback and or suggestion system what I mean is if cyp and or anyone looks at the Shout Box and someone happens to post something that a player believes to be inspirational and or useful for updating the server than someone could suggest it or cyp might just see it and think that's a good idea. Now with good feedback I mean good comments that really come from the heart being Thank you's or anything really nice. 3. The Shout Box would of course allowing easy fast chatting on forums without any ratings but there should probably be a post time limit of roughly 10 seconds to stop spam. I think with something like a bot from exampe a twitch stream along with the staff team could really keep the chat box in order so that no arguments, spam bots and negative comments arise being unpunished. Potential Negatives I want to really say what I mean by "Potential Negative" these things below may happen it's the internet and people are messed up or high emotional on here through things said. 1. Arguments: I mean this is always going to happen where ever you go but I believe the staff team along with some form of bot could stop this 2. Spam bots of course always going to be those but it can be avoided a little bit through making to chat in the shout box you have to make a verified forums account. 3. Flame wars pretty much Arguments but mods can stop this Ok now that I've roughly out lined some stuff I want to finish it off with what we can do to prevent these things happening in the shout box. How Would Rule Breakers In Shout Box Be Punished? Well I believe the punishment should range between Shout Box bans, Shout Box Mutes and if worst comes to worst forums bans and mutes along with the simple warning system we have now. How Would You Stop Spam Bots? As said above to be able to comment in the shout box you'd have to have a verified account and not be banned from posting in there. What If There's No Moderators Online? This does happen late at night a lot of the time but if need be I'm sure Cyp would promote special Shout Box mods / helpers to mute than report those players higher up to the mods for a ban or just have a shout box report set up along with the help of the potential bot. What if this Bot goes out of Control? It would have programming to stop it going out of control and Cyp would have access along with who ever he allows. What Would The Bot Do? Answer simple questions when asked with a simple !. For example !Staff would come up with the online staff. !Pile_of_Butts for example would come up with if they were online or when they were last on. This is only a suggestion so please try not to hammer it into the ground, the shout box really is a fun tool to have and could really connect the community together more. Neutral it takes a lot of effort to recreate this you need to go through a lot of mod apps once they have applied, ensure that people don't spam etc as stated above in your post and a lot of programming may be required for it to get started up. If it's already been removed there must have been something really wrong with it nevertheless being a really good idea. I like the sound of it just a few problems that would need to be fixed...
There really wouldn't be a need to go through many moderator applications as currently you can presume who gives the applications to be looked at and there may be a little bit of programming to add this back but it would be worth while. Thanks for your thoughts.
