In a way instead of going "Hardcore" and making Cyp, Tanner and Noobcrew make whole new servers that are incredibly similar to the originals, Why not just (as example) play skyblock on the regular skyblock server but don't use your donor perks. Also, just don't buy anything that is considered rare from people. Then it isn't so much of a hassle for the staff. Neutral.
Pointless, because there will be players that will use their donor perks and then the ones that don't are on the losing side.
Not really. If you know how to distinguish between what's rare and what isn't (which i'm guessing people would, they're donors, most likely meaning they've been on the server for a while) then they should be fine.
I'm saying that donors won't want to do this? Why stop using their /kit? Many people won't even bother to stop and they don't have to because they bought the rank with their own money and want to use it. I fail to see the reasoning at all behind what you're trying to say.
Well if people don't want to stop using their /kit then donors particularly won't be playing the "hardcore" servers. and that means it'll almost all be defaults. Which means the economy and gameplay will be almost identical to that of the original
I'm sure their are plenty of donors that would play hardcore modes including myself. And I don't see how the economy will be the same.
I don't understand why you don't see what I'm trying to say. You said: Well it would be fairly similar to "hardcore" Skyblock if you stopped using your kit and perks in regular skyblock. Which means that people don't need to make a whole server if you just stop using your perks to make it "hardcore" for yourself. The economy would be fairly similar, not the same, but similar. A lot of the items would still be around the same price range because people (especially donors who do play) are provoked to take up farming. Meaning that those base items are just as ample supplied as the regular skyblock items that are sold everyday.
I understand what you're saying. But people don't have to make it Hardcore for themselves. The players that do make it Hardcore would just be wiped out by donors. That's why, a new server should be made.
I agree that even if you try to play the game in current skyblock as hardcore by yourself, there is no real true way to do it. This is because the economy is so impacted by kits and commands that you could not sell your items to buy certain things, or other items such as iron are far cheaper than they would be on a hardcore server. Overall, Agreed. The advantage to the modes I chose, is that in essence there is no real setup time. Maybe make some minor changes from the base gamemodes, but no need to recode anything. Once it is up, should there we demand for modes that may require more work, the Staff could expand into those realms, but yes, Skywars could be a good one for the future.
So.. We're making whole new servers and removing all the donor perks from those server for a different economy? Makes total sense
The actual work in "making whole new servers" should basically be as simple as copying the existing configurations and spawns even. No need to reinvent the wheel. But yes, removing donor perks in an effort to make a tougher gaming experience and offer a reset so to speak that does not completely negate the existing servers. The sheer number of "Reset XXXX Server" posts seems to attest well to the desire for that. EDIT: As to this being purely about economy, no. It is a portion of it yes, but consider all of the /enchant, /fly. /god, /heal bits that make a gamemode easier. As was stated by another player, they miss some of the challenge that comes along with the basic iterations of a gamemode.
As I've said before, you don't have to use those perks. Not once have I seen a reset thread asking to remove donor perks.
Correct. That is the whole purpose of this post. As explained, when you offer an exact likeness "Version 1 vs Version 2" one will always win out. This was seen here on MV in the past where they reset a server and tried to maintain the old one as the Version 2. Very quickly though, that server was a ghost town and was eventually shut down. So by offering the exact same thing, you kill one. This post was to try to identify a creative way that allowed gamemodes to be reset so to speak, while simultaneously keeping enough difference from the old ones to encourage players to play there. As a donor myself, I can say I wouldn't mind having an option to start on a new server where there weren't the same perk structures as elsewhere. I feel that it would add a new enough aspect to the servers, while still encouraging players to the older ones, thus avoiding the scenario listed above.
This I could not agree more with. I like the idea of a server where you get respect not because of your rank but because of how you play in the game.
No support with the amount of hackers the "hardcore" servers would be overun by people in full diamond within minutes, using X-Ray to get diamonds and spawners. Good idea but unfortunately the amount of hackers is WAY to much.
There are plugins that detect how many ores you mined in in a certain amount of time, and which ores they were. Staff can be notified when a player has found a stack of diamonds in a row. Just an idea that could be implemented, and I know that works on other servers.
