Good Day! I have recently seen a lot of "Reset XXXXX!!" threads lately. This as we all know, poses an issue for those players who have created certain things or have obtained certain rare items, etc as they do not wish to lose them. So how can players get a "reset" so to speak without impacting everyone? Enter "Hardcore": When we think of "hardcore" we associate it with one death = gameover. I feel that is too harsh, but would like to see something find the middle ground between a reset, and offering a new style of gameplay to players. In this gamemode, a new icon would appear in the lobby. Within that icon (similar to the skyblock icon where when you click it, you can choose to enter Hellblock or Skyblock) you would have icons for each major gamemode. Hardcore Skyblock Hardcore Factions Hardcore Survival Hardcore Prison NOTE: Not including "OP" modes for now, but could easily be added if desire is there What is "Hardcore" if not one death? In this case, Hardcore refers to NO DONOR PERKS. Everyone starts with one rank and must earn everything outside of any donor perks. Why you ask? Changes Economy dynamics as there is no "rare" items from kits available for trade. This means those rare items obtained by players are worth more. Prevents "Titan tools" from entering the game. This puts emphasis on obtaining enchants the old fashion way and will encourage book trading, mob grinding, etc. Prevents commands like God/Fly/Heal from entering the game. This adds some more spice to specific gamemodes. The additional benefit, not listed above, is that it provides a "reset" of sorts for the gamemode, without discouraging players from playing the other mode. In this fashion, players are able to take it a bit easier with donor kits, more mature economies, etc. Alternatively players can try the hardcore modes where the economy is newer and there are no kits, hacked items, etc for players to crutch on. Why would donors play? As a donor, speaking purely for myself, I would not mind an opportunity such as this for a chance to start over in a harder fashion. It would bring back some more challenge and offer new opportunities in the economy or in my play style. This also offers a chance for a reset, but at a price. Are you willing to pay that or not? It's a question each player must decide for themselves. Feedback: Hardcore factions is already a gamemode with specific rules. May not fit exactly as described above, but possible. Desire for a Hardcore Skywars Server Why not just play Skyblock and not use your kit? Economy would still be far different due to others having kits/commands Concerns about hackers/cheaters in new gamemodes New plugins to help prevent this were suggested during server creation Ensure a donor's rank is at least visible in chat to show they are a donor Grant donors /me Concerns about lag from more servers being added Would require Cyp/Crew to evaluate if the servers can handle it or not I will try to update the thread with brief bullet points based on feedback as time allows, but please keep it constructive, or informative. Cheers, Melgrath
Ah, but I would respectfully disagree on Skyblock. Large quantities of hacked items still float around /fly and /god for ranked members (or flying pets) tends to make skyblock significantly easier /enchant makes tools that again, make the game significantly easier /fix ensure those titan tools won't break Curious if I may ask though, why not Skyblock?
Very true, but if the goal is to create a new "harder" experience then I figure it would fit the bill, otherwise kitpvp would need to be included in the list. (May be worth adding, but doesn't specifically come to mind and may substantially hurt the kitpvp community)
I think what Tepig4321 means is that HCFactions is already a widely played version of factions on multiple other servers. We don't have HCFactions here (To my knowledge). And also support for the HCFactions.
No support. I just don't see this as a future gamemode.. maybe like a UHC mini game but not a whole gamemode..
I support. I'm going to keep this post mainly to Survival as that's what I know best from the list above. Before transitioning to large servers such as Mineverse, I strictly played on Hardcore vanilla Survival. No freebie's from kits, no commands, no health regeneration beyond pots and golden apples, no nothing. As much as I love this server, I can say without a doubt I had way more fun on vanilla. Why did I have more fun there? The game was more of a challenge without the extra's. I'm sure some of the community will laugh at the previous statement I just made, but so be it. But as you said, everything is too within reach. All of the gamemodes are set to Easy difficulty, and all of them have some duping history contained within. Yes you may have payed $250 for a rank, and yes you may use it every given opportunity, but that just ruins the fun. I know I'd be bored with Survival if I had /enchant, /fix all, etc., even if hoppers were still available for use. Not that this wouldn't/couldn't happen, but I hope it does - 1.9 would fit in very, very well as an added difficulty on top of the already suggested "Hardcore" servers. And if you honestly have a problem with that, I see no reason why you can't just go to basic, ruined, duped to kingdom come, OP geared, regular survival (or whatever gamemode you play). Granted either way one of the additions would be a nice welcome I think. The Towny beta was on its way to offer a somewhat hardcore atmosphere, being that kits were being asked to not turn into Survival 2.0. So until either that is released or this is implemented, I suppose these reset threads will continue (as if they'll ever stop anyway).
So the purpose of this is to have certain gamemodes to not be pay to win? If so I support. Would be nice to have a single icon they represents the 'hardcore' section in the lobby selection, with the 'hardcore' gamemodes in it.
Yeah, I would love to play some vanilla Survival with only 2 or 3 plugins. (Claims and Player shops) What about HC Skywars? no access to kits or shop.
This would be a long project that NoobCrew and CypriotMerkz would have to work on. I suggest that they focus more time on more "Core" gamemodes such as Factions, Survival and Prison. Once they have finished with those, they can look back and see if it has worked and expand it to other gamemodes.
