I want to know your opinion of what mini-Modding is and if in fact it is actually a bad thing, Please don't post anything irrelevant as it is not helpful to anyone.
Personally, I'm against mini-modding. This server has enough great staff to moderate everything at all, and anyone who bothers their job by mini-modding isn't helpful at all. However, sometimes mini modding really helps, but still, it's the official moderators job.
Acting like a server moderator when you're not; telling people what to do, warning them, and keeping doing it for really long till it annoys everyone. I think personally that mini modding shouldn't be exist, for moderating there are official moderators and reporting section in the forums. In most of the cases people mini mod only to get themselves in a moderator position (getting promoted to Mod)
It isn't bad, but people start to dislike you if you're bossing around and stuff like that. I guess it's not bad but it's the moderators job. So in that case you don't need to be taking the mod's place by mini-modding.
Right so would you class this as mini-modding? Someone is swearing/spamming in the chat and I ask them to stop
No. If you act as you are more important than that person than that is classed as mini modding. If you do politely it really isn't.
I wouldn't class it as mini modding if it only happened once, but if the player warns many times it is.
Tbh, I classify it as when you're a player, and you act like you're equal to or have more power than a moderator. And yes, it can be annoying for us.
If someone's breaking the rules, report them or find a mod with /staff. Warning someone that they might get punished is okay, but if you're telling people to stop swearing/spamming/hacking all the time, it's mini-modding and it's annoying.
So basically just report every rule breaker you find ... It's to me because people say I mini-Mod without giving examples or an explanation of what they mean
Cyp's stated before that he actually appreciates mini modding. With that said, I believe that a lot of the community can find it quite annoying, and hence if you're going to mini mod, you should do it at a minor level - don't be an excessive mini mod if you know what I mean. Mini-modding is and always will be a joke and a joke rule. If people are going to spam and break chat/game rules, then they rightly deserve to be told to stop. They ruin the experience for the "mini-mod" and everyone else. If you can ignore the rule breaker, you can ignore the person actually doing something about it. Everyone on this website and in game have such a trigger finger to call out mods for not being active 24/7-365 but as soon as people deal with issues themselves you guys get up in arms in chat. It's a community effort to make the server better, get over it. As for those that do take it to the next level and claim a higher authority, they can be dealt with as well just the same.
It isn't against the rule to "mini mod" but speaking from experience it is really annoying to have someone do your job for you while you're online.
