Hello! I am making a new server. I have heard about linking my ban plugin to a MySQL Database, yet, I have no clue what linking it to a MySQL database would do. Would it make say, a back up, or store data there instead of storing it in my server files? I am running Bungee (Over 3 servers, including Hub). I do not want to ban a player through every server, if I ban them on one. I am guessing, as there is no real point to it, by linking all my Ban plugins (same ban plugin) on the different servers to my MySQL database, it won't ban them over every server? This is one thing that has always annoyed me, and yesterday I ended up making 4 MySQL databases just for a ban plugin, that didn't even work! If anybody can reply, or is skilled with databases etc. Please let me know . Thanks for reading :D.
I know that the ban plugin doesn't need a database, yet it is quicker with one. I just don't see the point in getting a Database, if there is no other reason that it being faster with one!?!?!?
Data bases for bans are for big servers and just makes it faster for the server to find a player and ban/unban a player than to have it in a text file where it has to read all player names. It just makes big servers have faster ban management
Agreed, also you can access all the features of the ban plugin. I recommend: http://dev.bukkit.org/bukkit-plugins/maxbans/
I have MaxBans now, thanks. :D I had the BungeeAdminTools plugin before this, and it needed like a database per server, and it didn't even work. MaxBans is better now though. @AthleticPsycho @Scorvix Please can you close this thread, thanks.
