When I created my forum game Yum or Eww, I got alerts from it. It was only recently I found it was locked. I didn't get an alert from it saying it was locked. I found a new yum or eww thread, with the poster saying it was locked. I went to check, and it was gravedug. Why did I not get an alert? I obviously don't want this to happen again, so how do I prevent it? It was 16 pages when locked, so maybe to reduce spam?
Gravedug threads are when a person posts a comment on the thread after a one month span in between the last comment. This is also called "necro-posting".
I know the issue. When you get an alert, and ignore it (without clicking on it or ever looking at the thread after it) you will not get any following alerts. Do I know why it does this? No, but probably to reduce spam.
Or probally is it old? I don't know, I'm just trying to give you ideas so you can get into the core and fix this
you only get notifications from threads you are watching and I think it stops watching threads if you personally dont post on them in a while
Im not getting alerts in my email anymore either, and I still have the box checked to send me emails when someone replies to my threads or something that I watch.
check your alert preferences and see if that works when you enable if they are off but click Save Changes at the bottom of The page after u finish.
