soooo.... I asked a mod about this a while back and even she/he was confused about it... But there's no harm in trying to see if any new information has come up about it. Sooo... As we know reports that are posted in the "Report a Player" sub-forum, does not allow acces to anyone who is not A. The person who filed the report, or B. A member of staff. However, for some reason, reports filed in the "Forum Reports" sub forum, can be viewed by anyone and everyone... I was wondering if any of the staff team have found a reason for this. @Alex @larrythebird101 @Ares_Xena @bananaman11223
I say make it private. Lately they have been causing flame wars and unnecessary posts, which the mods SHOULD be punishing.
its so the forum user can stick up for themselves. As anyone can claim to be any account in the other report sections. the report a forum user is just taht forum users and you can't impersonate this way. And there is no way to make it so only staff the player that reports and the one being reported can see it so thats why its public.
The accused isn't allowed to stick up for themselves in regular reports. And with evidence provided, will it matter if the accused stands up for him/herself? No.
its also to make the forums somewhat peaceful. When cyp first made all reports hidden he got huge backlack this is his way to even things out.
Support. Forum reports should only involve the player reporting and a moderator. I've seen many forum reports starting flame wars because the person getting reported has to join in...
It used to be we could see everything and that was fine with the comunity yeah we had mini flames on report threads BT that was the norm. Then cyp closed the reports that's what has made the flame wars huge. The wars used to be so micro now they are out of control. Cyp doesn't need more fuel for the fire.
It would save the mods some stress too ya know. They have better things to do than infract people that commented on something that had nothing to do with them
