Inappropriate Names

Apparently, a new rule just came out that inappropriate names now get perm muted, which I believe is complete bullsh*t.

I only have pretty much one account that I sort of own, Fatsh-t. Now I'm not even going to be able to talk to other players on the server because apparently it's 'inappropriate'. It currently has an elite rank, I can't change the username for it since the email is deleted (which is why it's my most protected account).

Many players are going to lose their freedom of speech because of this idiotic rule. I'll tag a few players who are ticked off about this too.

This is a g rated server. Not a server for players to come on with inappropriate names that young children will see.

 

Same with @idy and @AngrySexx, idy got perm muted on a gamemode don't know which :/ support.

 

Let's mute everyone who has the name assassin and everyone who says assume. Great idea

 

I don't see any children complaining about these names? Hell, I've seen 9 year olds with way more inappropriate names than myself and other players.

 

Immaturity kicks in aswell just remember. Anyways, it's a good rule, for people who want to see a good community and for those with bad names who don't get punished for a G rated server, kinda idiotic not to have the rule if we want to keep it a G rated server.

 

Show me where CypriotMerkz and Noobcrew state it's a G rated server, you can show me anything with them saying that.

 

Now there's a difference between my name and others. Mine isn't even close to "ifuckedyomom" it's idy. I was 12 when I made the account and I wasn't intending on it being taken that way. So it's not really fair.

For once, I'm gonna agree with Elric, this rule is quite stupid. Parents shouldn't allow their kids to play this server if people have profanity included in their names, it's their fault in the end.

That is besides the point. You can't punish someone due to their name? I completely agree with Elric - There is no reason to mute someone permanently because of their name, especially considering that anyone and everyone is either a donor or a potential donor in the future.

As for the server being a 'G' rated server, you don't pick your names through the server. You pick it through Mojang who decide whether they censor names or not. Either way, that person has paid $25 for there account(or $25 has been paid towards the creation of the account), and there is no reason for them to lose the ability to talk because of their IGN.

Immaturity in no way 'kicks in'. There is no reason for someone to be muted for their name. If that's the case, then the server is going to have a problem considering Mojang allows these names.

@Mods - Was this rule literally added? Did Cyp/Crew say to punish people for this? I'd like an answer.

There's also adults as Elric said, and these kids are on the internet. They're bound to encounter some form of 'inappropriate' language during their time. I'm not saying I agree with them encountering it, but it happens.

People shouldn't be muted for this especially when there are so many different circumstances as to why they may have this name. For example, as stated by idy, she was young and innocent(or at least I'd think :P). Elric can't change his name as stated, and it's OG. Overall I strongly disagree with this.

Why would he do that? It doesn't make sense really to perma mute someone over this?..

 

It's not a punishment, it's to prevent their name by being seen by others in chat.
