Hi guys, For those of you who do not know, /v or /vanish is a command which basically makes the player using it invisible from /who (and any form of it(except for /glist which was removed)), and it also makes a player appear completely invisible - No particles. I believe this would benefit the server if the mods had it on majority, or even all servers as it can be extremely helpful for catching hackers or even just people who are breaking the rules. I've been on Teamspeak before with @Forumz when he was still a mod, and I'd be fighting a hacker and request for him to tp. As soon as he'd tp, the hacker would see his name an immediately stop hacking. Now, this happens a lot, although in some cases it doesn't. With this said, we'd have to trust the mods to not abuse this command. Instances of abuse using this command: •Using /v to evade/escape pvp, without warping to spawn or a safe area. •Using /v to hide in your base(factions) •Using /v and pvping(I think this can be disabled) •Staying in /v all the time - Some players still will need your help. There are plenty more situations where this can be seen to be abusive but all in all, it's common sense. Thank you for reading this, Gizz.
Support. I find instances in prison where someone(not me of course. ;)) using contrabands and hiding it the moment a guard comes online. The only evidence of the usage of the contraband would probably be the littered flame arrows on the ground. With /v, this problem would be resolved.
I get that it would't be to hard to check the logs if it has been abused, but there's always that risk that a mod may abuse it. I think this command should only be given to trusted moderators because I do know how when you request a mod to tp the hacker turns their hacks off.
Agreed. Perhaps not to newly promoted moderators? (I'm not saying I don't trust you guys, but if this was to be added Cyp would want to be reassured that it isn't abused)
Hmm.. Maybe Cyp could implement this for a while and see what happens? If this ends up being abused he could just remove it. :p Or, if a mod is seen abusing the command, he could disable it for that mod only? idk. Support.
Mods will not be getting /v unfortunately. The reason why was because Cyp does not want mods sitting in /v instead of moderating. Im guessing that is a mod were to be invisible just by potions that hackers may not see them coming and continue to hack. So basically thats the best tool for mods.
Yeah... KitPvP took away invis pots long ago. I support, it is helpful because the mods can see hackers a lot easier. If the mod would decide to abuse, it weeds them out as untrustworthy and is good to get them gone for that reason.
For any game mode that has inv potions disabled, then mods there should have vanish but again there may be a fear that mods won't moderate and stay in /v instead, and not use the command correctly. @CypriotMerks
The /v plugin allows for administrators to see vanished players, also when they talk in chat but you can't tab their name and when they start going inactive.
Agent, people would report it and Cyp would check logs I guess. As Max said, only the trusted mods should get this. I know for a fact that this is an extremely handy tool for catching hackers.
There's only a few people that would actually be able to do /v :P We should be able to trust our mods anyway.
Invis pots aren't cheap and in fact aren't possible to get on most pvp servers(eg ArcherPvP, oppvp and kitpvp). We should be able to trust the mods. I don't understand why we don't? If they abuse they get demoted. Seems fair enough, right?
If you're saying trusted mods should get this, maybe just global moderators? Since they've been moderating for a long time and probably can be trusted.
This would be abused like people said in the past. No support. Also I wouldn't need /v to catch a hacker.
