A perm mute for having an inappropriate username on a child friendly server. If they want to be un-muted, then it is their own choice. This doesn't stop you from playing on the server though.

I also thought of something, if people do get muted, they can currently still do /whisper @a to whisper to everyone. I also think that should be dealt with in some way.

 

I'm only suggesting that the player be muted until they change the name.

I wouldn't go as far to say 3/4th's of the server is played by children, but a large number are around the age of 1-12, I class 13 as a young teen.

I support this because there is a lot of young children of age 7 - 10 that will see the words and keep repeating it to their parents.

No support is because we can't control them and make them change their name into something without cussing.

 

You are correct. You can not control them. You can however control what you allow on your server.
I'm not trying to control people. Just trying to control what players are subject to on this specific server.
They can keep the name and play.
I just won't have to be subject to seeing it in the chat.
(hope that clears up any confusion)

NOTE: I have this rule in effect on the server I admin currently and there have been almost no issues. Some choose to change their names and be unmuted, others keep it and play just the same.

Support. However if they have to change their username, what about their rank? They might have a donor status in the game and be hard to get back.

 

When you change your username, you can easily get your rank back if you lose it.
If you do happen to lose your rank, just email [email protected] with proof of you owning that rank and that when you changed your name, you lost it. Maybe try using a website that shows people's previous usernames to show proof that it was your name. Also, an in-game screenshot of you with the rank would help out too.

 

People only choose these names for attention, so if its attention they want why not give it to them. In the form of a mute.

 

I agree about the attention part, I don't really see anyone wanting an inappropriate name, unless they find it funny, but meaningless.

Yeah. I agree with this.
For people who say this is abusive or unfair, it isn't. This is a PG server.
Therefore, you shouldn't be able to have an inappropriate usernames.

I've seen names on the server such as:

Spoiler: Mature language

HairyClitOG, Queen_Of_Porn, and many other offensive usernames.

 

I'm sorry, but the youngest children I have seen on here are ten/eleven, so I'm pretty sure every eleven year old know what the term ''balls'' mean.

Anyway, I know inappropriate names are unsuitable, but three year olds don't pay on here, so there is really no point unless loads of people change there name to something like ''AliveNiggah'', only a handful of people have inappropriate names so I would just ignore them and not worry about it.

Its a Minecraft Server, not a school/nursery.
