With all the new name changes I have seen some highly offensive names. While I don't feel these names warrant a ban, I do feel young players shouldn't have to see them in the chat. I am proposing a new rule: Use of an inappropriate username will result in a permanent mute. Only to be un-muted by a name change and accepted ban appeal by a moderator. Upon appeal the user can prove their name change via: https://namemc.com/ Anyhoo... I hope to see this idea accepted so names like these can go away from my screen.
No Support People have the abilities to change their name to whatever they want, if Mojang didn't want these type of usernames they would have been disabled. It's not fair to be banned for choosing a username of there liking plus it can't be stopped.
Mojang may not care about this, but we do. ;) Also, she said they would be muted, not banned. Support.
You are correct. They have the choice to name their character whatever they like, and I'm suggesting that small children shouldn't have to see it. Please don't get me wrong Uncle, I'm not saying they should be banned. I feel a mute would be fine. Then the user can decide to remain muted, or change the name. Their choice.
They won't get banned, only permanently muted until they write a ban appeal stating that they have changed their username, and thus, get un-muted.
I feel like muting them wouldn't really do anything about the name... They could still stick around the server and run amuck... I support it, as it would help, but it wouldn't fully FIX the problem...
I guess you could say it is unfair, but, they still have a choice to change their username. Again though, I only support this because it's supposed to be a child friendly server.
Ew, you're saying someone can't have a inappropriate name when Mojang had the idea of Name Changes? Not Mineverse? I completely disagree with this. You have the POWER to change your name to WHATEVER you like. It does not depend on servers if they want inappropriate names (Well it is but then that's just lame) I think this suggestion is unsound and should not be considered. Other players do not have the power to control other people to make there name "Appropriate" It is solely the own players choice of his decision of his name. I strongly disagree as well as a strong no support.
This server is deemed as a child friendly server, therefor, stuff should be PG. I understand how people would see it as maybe unfair, but I too would prefer it like to be a mute. People get reported for swearing all the time, so, that just throws that rule straight out of the window.
