Hey There All You Beautiful People, Today Im Going to discuss a matter which i think its quit inappropriate, some of you may have had this before, when someone doesn't agree with you for whatever reason and decides to dos you. Dosing or also know as DDoS is when there is a Distributed Denial of Service Attack (DDoS) Definition. A denial of service (DoS) attack is a malicious attempt to make a server or a network resource unavailable to users, usually by temporarily interrupting or suspending the services of a host connected to the Internet. and i happen to come across a DDoSer, and it wasn't pretty, my internet shut down, and changed my ip to a random ip, and this went on for about 5 and a bit hours, it would probably still be down if i didn't make an agreement to him to pay him in game money to stop the attack. Now I'm not saying this to report him or for you to feel sorry for me I personally think this is going to far, i mean come on! Hacking someone Over Minecraft, a virtual Game, like serious? please take your hacks out somewhere else.
When I was mod I'd get DDoS'd two times a day. Once I was on a hotel's wifi and they ddos'd the poor hotel :')
I was the Co-Owner of a fairly popular server (500 players average) and the original owner of the server required all staff, including him and myself, to make our Skypes public. I was fairly disliked with the players and DDoS attacks are nothing new to me. My internet was out for three days thanks to someone who got mad at me for banning him for threatening to DDoS the server. I usually got DDoSed multiple times a day. I also got doxed (all my personal information, along with personal information from some of my family members got leaked out) once. I've been playing Minecraft for over 5 years and it's a shame to see what the general community has become.
Agreed. This is the issue with becoming a mod. The threat of a ddos Attack. Honestly i keep my skype Private, and i only give it to friends or family, or people i trust. People need to grow up, Stop using hack to try to be better, stop having rages, then Ddosing. Its immature, and not fair, or nice.
I have never been DDOS'ed but I have seen many people threatening others with DDOS attacks on Mineverse. It is horrible to think someone has the time to make someone else's life hell for a few hours just because they have beaten them, annoyed them or are better than them at a game.
At @Alyssaax3 asks people to go on her server to get there ips and dos them I don't get the point of it .-.
Well, if you do come under a DoS attack, then I recommend logging the requests that are being sent and if it goes on for long enough, you can get your ISP (Internet Service Provider) involved and have them ban certain ip ranges.
Well, if you get attacked, it all depends on how strong it is. If it's rally bad, it can fry your router (This rarely happens) But, usually, if it's strong it will just not allow you to use the internet for a couple of days. Normally, from people on this server, they will only DoS you for a an hour maximum. Volume Based Attacks Includes UDP floods, ICMP floods, and other spoofed-packet floods. The attack’s goal is to saturate the bandwidth of the attacked site, and magnitude is measured in bits per second (Bps). Protocol Attacks Includes SYN floods, fragmented packet attacks, Ping of Death, Smurf DDoS and more. This type of attack consumes actual server resources, or those of intermediate communication equipment, such as firewalls and load balancers, and is measured in Packets per second. Application Layer Attacks Includes Slowloris, Zero-day DDoS attacks, DDoS attacks that target Apache, Windows or OpenBSD vulnerabilities and more. Comprised of seemingly legitimate and innocent requests, the goal of these attacks is to crash the web server, and the magnitude is measured in Requests per second.
This is personally why I think people ddos… "Hey guys, I'm going to ddos that person who killed me in pvp. Then I can kill them while they're lagging and then say that I've killed them legitimately. Now everyone will this im so good at pvp." I honestly this DDoSing is so dumb. I've been dosed a lot, and it's bad.
Best way to avoid getting DoS'd is by not giving out your skype details to anyone, only give it to people you trust/friends - And give the username through a form of /msg. Skype is one of the easiest, if not the easiest way to secure someones personal ip over the internet.
