I believe this was mentioned in another port, but it was fairly generic and included some other ideas. To prevent other ideas muddying the waters, I am creating this thread. Issue: Currently on Skyblock, there is the unfortunate issue where you are unable to complete enough challenges to actually arrive at the "Master" level of challenges. This is due in part to limitations that had to placed on the plugin/server around use of the Nether, and /is level. Due to these limitations, you cannot complete enough of the default challenges to move to the final tier. Idea for Resolution: I believe that in order to resolve this, a small "nether shop" should be instituted. This would mean that certain items achievable only in the nether, would be available for sale. This would be things such as Netherack, Soul Sand, Ghast Tear, etc. The costs I would recommend be fairly reasonable, as not only would this be for the completion of a challenge, but could also introduce some fun new decorating options for player islands. Pro/Con: Pros: Ability to achieve additional tiers of challenges to extend play on the server. New materials for building and possible new recipes unlocked New player based creations for things such as obstacle courses and parkour where soul sand or lit netherack can be a fun addition. Bleeds some money from the player economy, thus potentially reducing inflation over time. Cons: Certain items can induce lag on the server. (I.e lit netherack being used for decoration on player islands) Possible player annoyance/griefing. (Soul sand in use at warps or player shops irritating players.) Removes money from the economy that may be used elsewhere to stimulate certain markets. If anyone has additional pros/cons or thoughts on the above, please let me know and I will add them to the original post.
I would like to propose the addition of Lapis Lazuli as well. Unfortunately with the update to 1.8, enchantment tables are not almost unusable by players. As lapis is only given as a one time reward from a challenge, players can a few enchants before they are out. Adding a server shop would offer the chance for player to at least buy lapis and use up some of their XP levels. Currently as I have no ability to enchant, I am at 87 levels and growing. Thanks for the read, Melgrath
Bumping Would still love to see this as obsidian is now also on the list of "unobtainable" blocks for challenges like netherportal. It also means the ability to make gold farms decreases substantially.
I suppose I should boot up a plot on creative to play around with ideas haha. Even just a proof on concept may help people visualize some of the items/prices I have in mind. I don't want to the shop to replace players, but would like to definitely have an area to go for a select list of items.
Haha, I was just going to make this thread, good thing I saw it! Anyways, support, Ill give reasons soon.
I took some time over the last day or so to put together a small sample of what a shop could be. http://imgur.com/a/J1Ddf#0 The above example is not complete obviously, but I wanted to make a shop that fits the skyblock theme. In addition, I put some sample items that I viewed would fit the goal of the server shop. All would be obtainable in the nether, but since the nether is disabled, players are not able to obtain them. The goal again is not to take away from player shops, but to allow players to purchase items that may normally not be obtainable. As always, feedback is welcome and appreciated. Cheers, Melgrath
You should tag cyp about this. In the past the owners have been agaisnt this idea for God who knows why. But I really think they need to reconsider their side. Quartz, marine block, ect, should be added as it can't be obtained any other way.
Greetings! I went ahead and turned back to the default resource pack to show my sample. http://imgur.com/a/AEKfJ As you can see, I added a small section of rules and tips to help players who may not review these things on the forums. In addition, I put some more items on the chests as possible candidates for being sold. All are items unobtainable in Skyblock, but may be nice for players to use to decorate their islands. Cheers, Melgrath
I like it but for the shop you don't need chests. If this was put in the shops you probably be like the ones in survival or op factions.
