Hi my name is Jim, but I'm not an ordinary person, I live in a world where nothing is good. All the buildings are trashed there is no electricity and there are crazy people running around trying to kill those of us who are living. This is how it all started: I was walking along in the forest with my dog. Then out of nowhere 3 peoples start running at me, at first I thought they were being chased but when they got close to me I saw blood dripping from their mouth, than i realized they wanted me. After 3 weeks of fighting for survival with only a walking stick I came across 2 people, a girl around the age of 15 and a little girl who looked to be 6. I watched them for several days before talking with them. I let them know that I would help them get to where ever they were going than they were on their own. So this is how we came to be a big happy family. After just meeting them I found out their names where Danny and Lily, Danny being Lily’s older sister tried to keep her safe. Their parents had been the first in their family to go, Taken by the disease. I admit Danny was good looking but in times like this there is no time for dating. After we got to know each others names we made camp for the night, that night they came. I stayed up for first watch, I was scared but I didn't want to `show them I was weak. Three crazed came from the tree’s my best weapon was a sharp stick. They attacked in a group, I knocked the smaller two down then attacked the biggest one. It drained my energy but I had taken it out. The face was too decayed to see the gender. The other two ran at me from different sides, I ducked and then swung, taking them both out at one time. By the time they were dead Danny and Lily had woken up. They asked what happened so I told them. By that time we decided it would be smart to start moving, after about an hour and a half Lily started to slow down. She was getting tired. At that point we had to keep moving but Lily was falling behind. Thats were I went and picked Lily up and put her on my back. Only solution to getting ground covered that day. At about seven o'clock we stopped for the day. I put up the tents while Danny prepared the food. That night Danny had Lily go to sleep early so me and her could talk. She asked how I ended up in the woods and how I survived. I explained it to her. Most of my survival was sheer luck. After that she told me that she doesn't know how they are going to make it, like survive, start a family, and repopulate. I could tell she was getting tired but she didn't want to sleep and let me take watch again. I saw her shiver so I grabbed a blanket and sat next to her. She laid her head on my shoulder and said thanks for protecting her and Lily last night, I said no problem and that if she was tired she should go sleep. Thats how we ended the night. In the morning I could barely stand, sitting the way I was hurt my back but it was the only way to watch over Danny and Lily without having a blind spot. As we walked trying to get out of the woods Lily was telling me about a dog game she use to play on her Ds, I was half listening half not to her story. We avoided some crazed before we stopped for the night. That night Lily was talking about how they use to have a dog named Riley. After Lily went to bed me and Danny were talking about what was going to happen, you know trying to travel through the woods too a safe place for her and Lily to stay. I said we would figure it out in the morning and for her too go too sleep, she refused. Said I take watch too much and that she should take a turn, I said I do it for the better good because I can move faster and take down multiple crazed at a time. After about 20 minutes she finally let me take watch and went to bed. In the morning Danny said since I took watch three days in a row she would make breakfast for us. I tried to tell her that she doesn't need to do that but she insisted. She made Stew and bread, it was the best food i’d had in weeks. After that we set off to get out of the woods. We were walking down a path that we thought would get us out when we ran into 4 crazed, I told them to back up but Danny said no that she would help, Lucky enough,Lily listened and stayed back. I took down one and Danny knocked one down, The other one ran at danny while she was trying to fend off the two that first attacked her. I pulled her to the ground and took out two of the three, the third was heading right for Lily. I was breathing hard, my shaft stuck in one of the crazed. Without thinking I ran at it and tackled it to the ground smashing its skull with my fists before it could reach Lily. When I got up Danny ran up and gave me a hug and started crying, she said if it weren't for me they wouldn't have made it. We kept walking and finally made it out of the woods just as it started getting dark.We made camp for the night against a large stone so that we could keep watch and make sure no crazed snuck up on us while we slept. After I had put the tents up Danny had already made food for us. She said i needed to sleep and that she would take watch, I refused and she said she’s staying up no matter what I say or do. After we ate Lily went straight to bed and Danny did what she said she would do. She stayed up with me the entire night even when i insisted on her. In the morning she looked tired but said she was fine. I didn't eat i stayed on watch and packed up everything made sure everything was in its right place to keep it from falling. Just before dawn we set off to find a safe place for them to stay. We walked miles and miles trying to avoid crazed as much as possible. After 3 encounters with crazed we saw they attacking someone else. but they were losing. When we saw it was one man who was fighting I told Danny to stay with Lily, she asked why and i told her i was going to help him. When i got closer i saw he was military. Doing hand to hand combat, gun at his hip hunting knife in his hand fighting them off. I found a dagger in a shop while we were walking so I decided to keep it since I had lost my shaft. I ran up and took out 2 crazed while he handled 3 more. When they were all dead he thanked me. We exchanged names and headed over to Danny, she introduced herself and Lily and he said his name was Bill. He said he was a U.S Marine home on leave when this broke out. Lucky enough he hadn't gotten the disease. He asked where we were headed, I told him I was helping them get to a safe place then we were splitting up. He advised we stuck together, Safer in packs than alone. He said he would stay with us and teach me more about survival so when we split I can survive. That night he taught me more about hand to hand combat and different things to do to make me stronger mentally and physically. He offered to take watch and for once I slept, When I went to set up my tent I found a hole in the side, probably from when we were fighting crazed. Danny said she could set up Lily’s tent and me and her could share a tent. I said thanks for the offer but I can just sleep on the ground. She said no that if wouldn't feel right, I tried telling her no but she would keep pushing it and saying to go and she even tried pulling me there. Finally I gave in and said yes. I told her that I don't take up that much space and I can fit in the corner of the tent. In the morning I found that I had moved in my sleep, I had my arm around Danny, She was still sleeping so I decided to let her sleep. I got out of the tent and stretched, I didn't see Bill so I called his name. Out of no where he jumped out of a tree holding squirrels, I asked what they were for and he said even in times like this protein is still important . I laughed as Danny walked out of the tent. Bill started making breakfast and Danny went to wake up Lily. After breakfast I pulled Danny to the side and asked what happened last night because I didn't remember, She said that she was cold and she told and I came next to her to warm her up and thats it, I didn't fully believe her but I went with it. We headed off shorty after breakfast. Bill said He would keep front and make things safe. We kept Lily in the middle and me and Danny at the back. After about 2 hours of walking Bill called me to the front, I went up and and he handed me a box, I asked what's this for, He said incase he doesn't make it its extra safety for me and Danny. I told him we weren't staying together forever, He started laughing and sarcastically said sure you're not. I opened the box and found a pistol, and 3 mags of ammo, i said i couldn't take it and he needs it. He wouldn't take it back, he said i needed to keep it because he isn't going to make it that far with us. I went back by Danny, she asked what Bill wanted and i told her that he gave me a gun. She was surprised and curious if we’d need it. when it started to get cold we stopped in a gas station for the night. Danny made food while me and Bill checked the gas station to make sure there were no crazed. There we no crazed still alive but we found 4 or 5 dead ones. When we came back Danny had made dinner, She made stew again. After we ate we divided the gas stations into rooms so that we didn't have to put up tents. When we decided that Lily should go to bed we gave her a small but big enough room so she didn't feel cramped like in her tent. When Bill look at me he said i looked tired and that i should go to sleep and that he would take watch for the night, I tried to argue but i had no room because he would find reasons for me to sleep. When i tried to go in the room i was given 3 crazed had broken the window and attacked me, I had the gun strapped to my waist and thought it was a great time to try it out. When Danny and Bill heard the gunfire they ran to see what happened…. To be continued
