Also appeals would be handled by known mods, like Farid said, with evidence taken of hacker/spammer taken by secret mods before banning.
But I know this community. I'll use myself as an example. If I were secret mod, lets say I find someone hacking on kitpvp. I take a video of them using hacks in a 1v1. They get banned. On their appeal, they're shown the video. They say, "hmm, the only person around me was Gemmalove." It'll get figured out fast.
Support I like the idea of secret Mods. Catch a bunch more hackers and trouble makers. Don't know how it would function properly but a good idea.
This will never happen. One of the most prominent points of having moderators is to help people. How can people know to ask you for help if you are no where to be seen? The report sections are there for a reason, it is your choice to use it, and it is your fault if you choose not to.
I don't think it could ever function. It'll be figured out in no time, I'm sorry. Perhaps the vanish command that was suggested back then could happen, but not completely secret mods...
just make it so mods don't get a prefix or red name then most new players won't se the mod then be easier to catch.
Let me add stuff to your idea. Every server any rank god higher (including mods) get /Vanish it basically hides you from being tabbed or found with /seen
This is smart, but we should take a look at the pros and cons :P Pros: -hackers would be caught by surprise -moderators wouldn't be constantly spammed with messages -mods would have more time to check reports, appeals, etc. and be online without being asked for help all the time -people spamming messages would be muted with less complications -less reports would have to be done Cons: -mods would be much more likely to abuse -players will be more motivated to apply for mod just so they can have access to /v -mods could forget to "un-vanish" when pvping (and get demoted) -players will find a way to see when the mods are online and "blow their cover" So those are just a few of the many pros and cons of this suggestion. Finally, I'd like to point out a huge con... Moderators wouldn't even be doing their jobs (helping players) anymore. If they're constantly vanishing and players don't know when they're on, how are they helpful in any way? For example, a new player has a question. They ask for help, but no one replies with a helpful answer. A moderator is online, but can't risk revealing them self to the other players. They can a. blow their cover so that all the hackers will leave and not get caught, or b. stay hidden and have the player quit the server because no one wanted to help them. This is a huge disadvantage to the suggestion, and might be the number one reason why it wouldn't work... I personally think this would benefit the server in some ways, but again you have to remember that huge con. I personally think this would tear the server apart. If anyone could vote their way to /vanish, the command would be almost pointless. It's supposed to be a unique way for mods to hide themselves from hackers, spammers, scammers, etc. Sorry, but I don't support your idea @TheHiddonOne143
Full support. This is a great idea. Someone said that the secret would get out quick but I think that would be a good thing. If hackers realize that secret mods are spying on all the servers they might think twice about using their hacks. Where I live we have secret cops and that helps out the community a lot. This causes everyone to try to be on their best behavior. Plus if power was being abused someone could just screenshot and report it. I know there are cons but I think with a little tweaking this could work out.
Support because almost all the time when mods tp to the hacker they alway turn their hacks off but when you have /v they won't know the mods are their so the won't turn them off.
I support Mods having Vanish. I would also suggest Picture in picture or something like it for the mods. Youtube video of mod.
The way players get is is that you can still see them hut /who and tab won't make them show up. Survival already has this command for titans
/vanish was suggested by the mods to Cyp about... April. There was some debate, because /v has lots of potential to cause abuse and other bad things that aren't wanted. Also, secret mods wouldn't work, as it is ruined once it gets out.
