Today is the 13th anniversary of September, 11, 2001. September 11, 2001 was one of the lowest points in America. It was the only other time we were attacked on our own soil from foreigners, since the War of 1812. Altogether, we lost more than 3000 Americans that day. Most of us, ranging from 15-16 were only 2 or 3 years old. We probably don't remember much of what happened, but, our parents, older staff members, or older players here on Mineverse in general, remember what happened. On September, 11, 2001, Four passenger airliners were hijacked by 19 al-Qaeda terrorists so they could be flown into buildings in suicide attacks. American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175, were crashed into the North and South Towers, and within two hours, both of them fell, and other buildings in the WTC Complex were damaged or completely destroyed. That is not the only thing that happened that day. Another airline crashed into the side of the Pentagon. Another flight, headed for the capital or the White House, Flight 93, was also hijacked, but passengers risked their lives, and a lot of them crowded near the cockpit, and it went straight down in the Pennsylvania valley. Shortly after the president found out, the United States closed their borders with Canada and Mexico and sent out hundreds of border patrols for a few days. We lost 2,996 Americans. Today is a day to honor them. And to remind everyone that, although America is a great country, like any country, we aren't safe from everything. We engaged in war for about 11 years until recently, all troops were brought back from Afghanistan. We honor those troops who fought to keep our country safe, and protected us. To any older players/staff members here, what do you remember on that day?
I'm sorry to say this but I personally don't like these threads too much. It's not because I don't care, I just mean that last time I saw a thread like this on skyblock, it turned to a flame war, and I'd hate to something important like this to end up in a flame war. ;-; More on topic. <3 I wasn't even born then. My mother and my sister were near the towers at the time, but they survived.
It's..I respect it for somene posting this in memory.. But then again.... The same people usualy make these kinds of posts and sadly I don't have time to read everything due the fact I'm busy alot. :I I'll give it an ''Creative''
Just got to freshman homeroom and saw it all happening in the tv. I was 14. Enlisted in the Army one month after I graduated high school. Deployed to Afghanistan a year and a half later. Also fyi afk troops aren't out, I still have friends overseas in Afghanistan.
I can't believe it was 13 years ago... where has the time gone... And still such a tragic day in American history.
I was down the shore with my family and cousin, and my mom told me she remembers seeing the smoke from the beach. She said everyone starting leaving out of panic when they saw the smoke, and we eventually drove home and she volunteered to go into the city since she was a fireman at the time. However my mom couldn't stay long due to the debris and smoke in the air. Unfortunately a few of my friends lost someone that day, since most parents work in the city here. Awful tragedy. Also, please don't go off-topic about ratings.
My dad showed me a picture of smoke billowing down the street, since I was in the near vicinity when it happened.
I was at home when my mom got a phone call from her friend.at the time my dad owned a multi million dollar financial company. My dad sent 3 employees to the world trading center. One was there when it happened and 2 where on a flight heading there. the one who got there early died in the first building. Very sad. Ever since my dad has took the blame of his death on him because he was the one who sent him there.
I was still living in Peru at the time of this. At the time my dad worked in the news business thingy, and he was editor in chief. My mom was outside walking around when she heard a woman scream from one of the houses. My mom assumed it was someone trying to attack the lady (Back then, Peru had a high crime rate) and my mom was obviously scared, not just for her life, but because she was 8 months pregnant with my sister. She went anyways and she told me that the woman was crying because of what she saw on the news. Her husband was in New York City at the time, and he lived, but she was freaking out. It was also a very long day for my dad, because he was getting all the news and stories etc... And he had a lot of work to do.
i'm sad that it happened, but a flame war could start up there are some middle easten people who think america blames them for the attack. And mineverse has people from the middle east that are playing and on the forums. that was just my 2 cents. i'm sad the attack happened and i hope one never happens again.
I wasn't alive, I was being carried in my mummy's tummy, but my mum was actually near New York, when this happened.
When this happened I was 2 years old :P this is really sad and I saw a video of the people falling and all the comments on youtube said USA did this. I don't think that is true.

I lived in Australia when that happened. I never knew about it until they taught it to us in school. It broke my heart when I found out.
