on the 19th of December, a movie night was hosted on the discord. We watched the movie "Let It Snow" and I really liked the idea of having movie nights. My suggestion is that maybe there could be hosted a movie night every month or every other month? Of course you would need "Teleparty" and the streaming service yourself due to legal reasons.
I only have a couple questions for the general community about what they’d like to see on movie nights. I’d like to know: What day should we host it? (Keep events such as the Skyblock discord karaoke nights in mind, as we wouldn’t want to overlap or collide with that) What time would be a good time for everyone? How often would y’all like to have them? How would you like to see it hosted? Movie suggestions! (Preferably movies that are appropriate for all audiences and/or could be enjoyable by a variety of different people. Also must be available on Netflix, as of right now teleparty is our best way to host them) Is everyone fine with using the method Teleparty (aka Netflix Party) to watch movies? We need a legal way, and right now it seemed like the best option to the discord team. How should we properly promote this in order to bring in people to watch? These are all things I can discuss with the discord team too, but I’m curious and interested to hear the community’s input on how we could make this the best, efficient, legal, and most importantly fun way to do this.
also with this, must keep in mind that different Netflix’ around the world have different movies, so we’d have to make sure beforehand that each participant has the movie on their Netflix.
support i love this idea, but also like sab said different regions have different available movies. also with let it snow i think it was a bummer for me bcs it was announced at like 3am that the event was gona happen and then the actual movie at like 5am? so maybe having a set time for when the movie night is gona happen where people know of times beforehand would be nice : ))
The set time for the movie was supposed to be at 4am for us, but it got delayed to around 5am due to issues with Netflix Party and just helping people who didn't know how to use/didn't have it downloaded yet. If this gets implemented, there shouldn't be as much of a delay as there was in the previous movie night. I think the current time we have at the moment is fine, but it'd also be cool for some of the movie nights to be hosted in times that suit our timezones (asia timezones) more. You guys should also answer Clarity's questions. We're (the discord team) are fine with discussing it ourselves, but we'd like the community's input on these too, especially with the timings and the movie suggestions. I had a lot of fun at the previous movie night, and i'd love to see this implemented.
we did put an announcement in the changelog that we would be having a movie night, as well as giving people who reacted to the changelog a role so they’d be pinged 24h before, 1h before and as the movie was about to start. I agree though, we should’ve made it more clear when the movie was going to start; eg. putting an announcement in #announcements, not just #changelog as not everyone would’ve seen it. ^^^ we would love some feedback on how to improve, as well as what you guys would like to participate in
Sundays. Karaokes on Skyblock are on Fridays and Saturdays. These three days would be good for a fun time. It’d keep the community involved during the early weekend (Friday) and the weekend itself. 3PM EST. Seems like a nice range time. The only issue with this is for other time zones so maybe each Sunday, you can do an alternate time so different time zones can join in. Once a week. Alternating the times of course. Personally, I think since the legal age for Discord is 13 and that at least mild swearing is allowed, play movies that aren’t too profane but mildly. Maybe also some funny movies rated PG. We should be able to watch those. You can also let others know some things about this movie like mild swearing etc but generally I think PG is fine. Nothing too profane or inappropriate at all. Let everyone know that Teleparty is mandatory to watch movies. People who can’t use it will not be able to join. Since it’s mandatory for legal issues, they should understand. We don’t want to break laws/rules. Movie Night Channel Movie Night Role (which is pinged by Discord Team) Make a Dyno Command you can run so every time a movie is about to begin, you run the command and it’ll display a message with a ping (admin can only run the command of course). This is easier so you don’t always have to type. Make an official one time announcement about the movie night, rules and requirements (Teleparty etc.) in #announcements. This is my idea.
