Reputation System

Add a reputation system and a Rank system to the Forums


The reputation system will allow you to rate so many posts a day so if you set for example 5 ratings a day that you can give out, that means you can only agree/disagree with someones posts. Agree= +Rep Disagree= -Rep

And basically this system is common in MyBB forum software but hopefully they have something like this but for XenForo hopefully my suggestion is good.

It seems like you are suggesting two mutually exclusive ideas. A cap on rates (per day as you have suggested) and a reputation system are completely unrelated to one another. A cap on rates might prevent potential rate-abusing, whereas a rep system (albeit neat) doesn't have anything to do with rate-abusing.

Saying this makes people think that if they don't support your idea, they must support rate-abusers. This is called propaganda, a below-the-belt method of getting people on your side.

I like the ideas, just not the way you argue them. Basically, it seems like you are trying to sneak in one idea on the premise of another. This is meant to be constructive criticism, by the way, as I believe you are capable of making a more compelling argument than you have already.

TL;DR: Support the rating cap, don't care much about the rep system, work on your counter arguments.

Anyways, There is already a Reputation System in place that you give ratings and such, I am just saying add a cap limit I meant to really say so then there isn't a lot of rate abusing, Rate abusing shouldn't happen at all and if it does that affects the users, If you cap the amount of what a user can rate a day it helps so then they can't rate farm or rate abuse at all. So adding in a cap limit of ratings you can do a day will benefit.

I only meant to mean that if you support how it is including the rate abuse and if you like it that's not good at all. The rate abuse needs to stop within the structure of the forums and if it keeps happening there is reports that Moderators shouldn't have to deal with every so often and work on other reports in the report section.

 

This doesn't really stop rate abuse though. They could create several accounts...

 

1 IP per account unless they are brother/sister.

I'm sorry, but I don't support this.
Mods now have the ability to remove ratings if necessary. If you get rate abused, all you have to do is report the user who abused you, and a mod will remove the ratings, and temp-ban the user.

With a rating cap, like Grayson stated above, people can just create alts to keep on rating. Although I like the idea of limiting accounts to 1 per IP. If someone wants to make a new account, all they have to do is claim they have a bunch of siblings and they can get away with it...

It is a little time consuming, but staff can remove rate abuse now :P
