How to disable Window updates

    • Run Windows Command Processor as an Administrator
      • (Instructions below for Win 7)
      • Go to start
      • Search Windows Command Processor
      • Right click
      • Run as administrator
      • Click yes (password may be needed)
    • Type in the following:
      • sc stop wuauserv
    • Click enter
    • Wait
    • Shutdown as usual
    • Note that this only disables updates until reboot.
    Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any damage that may occur if you do not update your Windows computer.

    Why would you want to stop windows from updating? Having windows update only benefits you from security issues and bug fixes. Having your system out of date for a period of time only leads a benefit for black hats and grey hats to have an advantage on your computer as it's outdated.

    who in the right mind would want to disable vital updates that could potentially protect your computer from viruses?

    Um, ever heard of WannaCry? Yeah? Well, the people that updated their computers were safe. The people who didn't were NOT safe.

    I agree with this. You shouldn't stop automatic updates as there are security fixes in most of the updates, having outdated software just makes you venerable to viruses and hackers. Sometimes its vital you update asap like with wanacry.
