Okay now before you all go start hating in replies read the whole thread first.

This issue is mainly for OP PvP and Kitpvp 1 / 2, I put lobby because it's for both.

This is my reasoning, 90% or more of the hackers on mv are non rankers and they are all mcleaks alts. The problem with this is everytime they get banned the owner (Rankers a lot of the time) will go and get another alt, give it op gear and kill people with it. So every time you ban one of these accounts it doesn't really make a difference, the reason I don't see ranked hackers getting ip bans is because if they are hacking on that account its most likely they don't have an alt however yes they should also get ip bans to prevent them from further ruining people's gameplay. I play OP PvP a lot and Kitpvp2, I used to hack, Ill admit to that. I've had numerous bans however I have finally gone and got my sh*t together. Now when I got banned I didn't get angry because I knew what I did was wrong and I did also come on alts to play, which ended up getting banned almost every time too. So here's the scenario, a non ranked hacker has the best gear (that they got from their main) and is hacking, is tp trapping is killing everyone. They get banned, they come on another alt and repeat, this process goes on for ages wasting both Mods time and the players recording them. Ip banning would help every singe legitimate player enjoy the server and have a good time. Everyday I play this server and everyday I see people raging and quitting due to the amount of hackers which is ruining your server. At the end of the day players can find more servers like this and play there.

      Thank you for reading this.

EDIT: Yes I understand players can change ip's or use VPN's however if you've ever played (edit) (a server) they have found a way so VPN's will not work when they ip ban, now I don't know what mv could do against changing ip's, I don't know a lot about that sort of stuff, but I'm pretty sure if all of mv's staff or even the players put their heads together they will be able to find something that can help this issue.

If the owners thought this idea was a suitable response to tackling the hacker issue, it'd be in place.

For some reason, it's not. Maybe it's banning IPs (little more intimidating)? Not sure.
When I was a moderator, a regular moderator; we weren't allowed to see IPs, especially not ban them. It's a bit of a powerful command. Again, though, not sure as to why we don't do something about the hackers, this seems like an option that could be trialled at least...

Hm, i feel staff would abuse /ip (username) due to the fact of ddosing in our days.

Yeah, /banip is a better idea so Moderators can't see our ip addresses.

Yeah, most likely would be able to take the permission off in the console.

Siblings, who cares about that if it happens, they can blame the sibling that got banned.

I mean as long as the moderators can't see ips, I'm fine with it.

Yeah. The thing is I'm actually leaning to support, but then again the ban appeals section will be flooded with people claiming that the alt should be allowed because "it's my sibling". Trust me, ban appeals like these where another account is banned for "ban evading" is extremely hard to solve, and usually ends up with a denied appeal if there's no concrete proof.

If Mineverse were to initialize IP bans it would have positive and negative aspects. When a player is IP banned their IP ADDRESS is banned. ''Address'' was bolded and underlined for a reason. If multiple computers (or users) on that IP address connect to Mineverse, but the IP is banned, then all of the computers will not be able to access Mineverse. Even if they're different usernames. In the event that a younger sibling is IP banned, then everyone else in the house is as well; because they're all connected to that IP address. This would reduce the amount of rule offenders who lack the knowledge to change their IP (using various methods). However, it wouldn't prevent a (nowadays) majority of the people who are knowledgeable or who can just use google to find out how.

An IP address can easily be changed. It can take no more than 10 minutes or even less. You don't have to be super knowledgable in order to change your IP. A quick google search or YouTube tutorial can do the trick nowadays.

An IP ban could be useful but only to a certain extend. That's why I'm gonna stay neutral for now.

O boy.....i have lot to say about this. To start off as many of you have mentioned above vpn could bypass some of the ip bans due to mineverse not having a plugin to prevent this from happening. also yeah i agree that most player will say it was my sibling hacking not me but in order to accept a ban appeal stating that my brother was the one who did it they should provide sufficient proof. hackers though will always be a problem even if they're ip banned.

As for the moderators now....WTF GUYS. YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE TRUSTED. THATS WHY YOU GOT THIS POSITION. Also players can comment on staff applications. the applicants are supposed to be well known by the community and well respected. if everyone knows that a certain applicant has the reputation of a DDoS'er would they comment with "support"? i don't think so. no one would be stupid enough to do this.

Still. Some of the moderators, after getting accepted, made some big problems. (not stating anyone)
      but I couldn't agree more.

I think this is a good idea but not great. Yes It would be good seeing hackers getting IP banned because most the time they just come back on other alts, but we also have to think about if they have siblings, so I'm neutral

If this was to happen, we would need screenshare mods, since it's extremely easy to false ban someone with video evidence, due to fake hacker, name protect, high fov, latenci, ping etc. Also an IP ban would be pointless, since it's easy to evade. Perm bans should be given out to players caught using injection/ external clients.
