Why do you think you should become a mod?

I think I should be a moderator here on Mineverse because I see a great server/network, and want to aid in keeping it that way. The existing staff are already quite good at what they do, and I'm sure they would appreciate any help they can get. I can be that help; I am a nice guy, believe it or not, and am flexible – a team player. I take pride in doing a job well, and believe in justice. I know when it's okay to joke, and when it's not. I'm aware of the various times and places for certain behaviors, something not everyone possesses.

Moreover, I pride myself on my sense of objectivity. Of course I am not perfect, but I strive to maintain an open mind as much as possible, and would never allow any bias, no matter how small, to affect my moderation. Any sane person realizes never having any bias ever is impossible – but being able to ask for help is another one of my strengths. In this hypothetical situation, if there were room for bias on my part, I would make it a point to get a second opinion from a colleague – in effect, removing bias (the likelihood of any existing to begin with being quite low).

Something important: I don't back down in the face of intimidation, but also try my best not to overstep my bounds. Growing up, I dealt with a lot of conflict in my life, something that has made me develop skills in conflict resolution. I personally try to always settle things maturely and make amends in my offline life, and naturally extend this to my online interactions as well.

Another qualification might be that I am studying Psychology as a major at college, and so can identify and utilize certain human behaviors to make even more informed decisions regarding the human to which those behaviors belong. Basically, knowing how people tick is, as one probably imagines, very useful in moderating.

Realistically speaking I can be on for 1-3 hours a day.

How long have you been playing Mineverse?

I started playing Infection about a year ago, and that was my first exposure to Mineverse. I started playing again on all servers, around 2 months ago. I only recently made a forum account.

Do you have any past experience as a moderator?

Yes, I have a lot of experience moderating. I've helped build and maintain a few quality, smaller servers in my time playing Minecraft, including one of my own. This is relevant because I have additionally (beyond server file adjustment) moderated the player base for extended periods of time (think: months). Despite potential arguments, I've never been one to ban out of a grudge, nor to avoid banning someone due to a personal relationship. I have enforced rules not because I believe in all of them, but because my superiors deemed it necessary. That's it, I suppose; I am willing to enforce your rules, regardless of who is breaking them, regardless of my personal opinion on them. Something I find unfortunate is that many people tend to shut down immediately when the heat gets too much (so to speak) and I like things to be resolved, save otherwise having incidents and potential drama be extended and worsened. I always try to be fair, and even in the face of controversy have always tried to appeal to people's sense of rationality.​

Overall, it is quite difficult to explain oneself and their personality/qualifications via text. But, I can assure you that I possess the qualities that make up a productive moderator, and seek only to make the server the best version of itself it can be. This thread is open to constructive criticism, both positive and negative. While I do appreciate any one-worded responses, the best thing you can do is to leave a thoughtful reason as to your support/non-support. I will not take anything as a personal attack unless it is specifically designed to be one so, really, feel free to speak your mind! At the very least, I'd like to improve myself, even if my application is not accepted. Thanks in advance, all.

No support. Now before you go off and start saying stuff, you were rate abusing as "Dumb" after I complimented you on your grammar. I tried being nice and you pretty much rated all my post as "Dumb." I find it untrue that you are nice, maybe helpful. I wouldn't have a problem with you if you didn't state the facts in the app.

 

I rated two posts of yours "dumb" that I found to be poor attempts at humor. It wasn't abuse, as I wasn't smearing it everywhere, like you imply. (Side note: abuse is when a facet of a system is used in a way that was not anticipated or in a way that is not desired by the system creators.)

Granted, you are entitled to your opinion, but you posting "you went all out on your word selection there" and when asked if you were attempting an insult you responded with "no, not at all" – in response to a post of my own – doesn't seem like genuine compliments (think of someone saying that to you in real life, after you gave a speech or something); hence, the dumb rating.

Anyhow, thanks for the feedback. Don't take this as an attempt at flaming, as it is merely an explanation.
