OK Hypothetical scenario.
Some one Builds a lava monster around the edge of another players claim in survival.
Since the "grieffers" did not build or destroy anything inside another players claimed area would you consider this a ban worthy offense? The owner of the claim has screen caps of the players doing it and caps of their chat where they debate that what they are doing is not grieffing. If you go in favor of the Alleged "grieffers" how would you justify your decision to the owner of the affected claim?

How would you handle the same scenario if the alleged grieffers did the same around the spawn area effectively creating a wall around it that prevented other players from leaving unless they did ./wild or ./rtp?

If your decision was different why?

Ok, first of all, I want to say sorry about my delays to reply to this question.

In your first situation, when they [The Greiffers] build a lava monster around the edge of another players claim in survival. If I was a mod and saw a report on this situation, I would consider this invalid and not greiffing, since they [The Greiffers] are affecting the area around the claim, which I call 'No Man's Land'. I would consider it greiffing if the player is getting affected inside their claim without permission. But even then, it's the owner of the claim's responsibility to trust these players to not grief in their claims.

In your second situation, when they [The Grieffers] build a lava monster around the spawn area to create a wall around it to prevent other players from leaving the area. If I was a mod and saw a report on this situation, I would, again, consider it invalid since it's affecting the area I call 'No Man's Land'. Even if it avoids players from leaving spawn, they can type in the commands /wild or /rtp and they could also ask for teleportations out of the lava monster.

I hope this clarifies everything, and hopefully didn't get you (Or other users reading this) messed up while reading this. Thank you for the very well thought question, and ask me more questions if you are curious about anything! :D
