No way! Too much confusion like what if a person called himself PewDiePie and his name is XxPurple_ShepXx who will know?
Those that would know would simply do /real name <Nickname> and bam that's how. Of course you could simply do /whois or /seen to find them out, so its not that hard to see the real name of people.
This would be easily abused. Also, chat would be filled up with all this bold and italic text, which would spam the whole chat. No support.
No support, though people say that you can do /seen <nickname> to find the ign of the rulebreaker, won't people be able to change their nickname after, possibly even allowing another person to take that nickname and recieve the blame? ~And if you can't, maybe you should specify that in the original post :P
^ I support this. @Porky, I'd also like to know which rank(s) that might receive this ability and on which gamemode(s). Simply go more in depth. Are you allowed to colour your nick? Are you allowed to change your nickname as much as you want, or is there a cooldown? Can you nick yourself the exact same in-game name as someone with a record on Mineverse? And so on...
No support. Mainly because people would mock other's usernames and the filters would be bypassed a lot more, and you couldn't report others without a moderator checking their real name, and even then if the offender changed their nickname already, it would be as hard as pinning a ghost to a crime.
There are ways to prevent this such as /real name and the ~ character before their nickname. If you hover over the ~ it will also say their real IGN. Thanks for your input.
I know there is /realname, but some people won't think to do /realname (Player nickname). Which plugin will let you hover over the nickname and show their actual names? Like I quoted above, "I know there is /realname, but some people won't think to do /realname (Player nickname)."
/nick is a super fun command and i would really like it to be added but there are many different problems with /nick and many ways to abuse it. Someone will eventually find some super abusive thing to do with /nick.
If this is implemented, an every gameode i go on, ill warn everyone yo do /realname if they think the person is impersonating a mod or another person. Also, if the impersonate a mod, they won't have the mod tag, and if they try, it will be to long of a name to put there own username.
I quite like the idea. I think it would be something nice to add to mineverse. yes their are some cons aboud this idea. but I am sure if we add some basic rules to it it can't be abused.
