Okay, I'm know I'm part of the reason this rule was implemented but now that I'm in the perspective of a player, it's different. The rule we all love - needing full screenshots. The rationale behind making the rule is perfectly acceptable, however, there needs to be a tweak I believe. Issue 1) Some people use applications such as gyazo, imgur, and lightshot to take screenshots to report players, correct? Well, if a user is ignorant or forgets to take full screenshots, then they are screwed. It's not like you can go back to that exact moment and take the screenshot again, the whole report is thereby declared void when all the user has is cropped evidence of the situation. Issue 2) Let's be real, most people aren't going to manipulative evidence on a Minecraft server. However, I'm not saying it doesn't happen (It was added partly due to this). When this happens and a user only has cropped proof, it spoils everything, even if the situation is legit. A moderator could be cursing and spamming it in chat but if the guy has cropped proof only, the report will be declined... see where I'm coming from? I understand that's an extreme example but think about how many rule breakers have gotten away due to this rule. The solution is common sense. Moderators are able to make judgement calls if needed. If it's a directed chat offense, it should have to show only the chat box. If it's an image of a guy flying, killing animals, or griefing, then it should just have to show that bit. For real, editing the full image? That guy would need to have extreme editing skills that aren't worth the situation he's reporting for. Ok bye.
it makes it easier for people to screenshot with F12, and easier for moderators. i dont see any reason to suggest it to the way it used to be back in 2014...
The only way a player could say edit a screenshot is using editors like paint which require extreme amounts of patience and editing skills that not too many players want to use on a simple report. Then again, editing moderators is probably worth faking evidence showing they broke multiple rules at once. I do understand you could easily just copy and paste things around the chat box, but a common player could see that the colors in the back would be cropped to make the image appear as if it would be real. While I believe players griefing should require video or players spawn killing should require video, I do support cropped images because who has the time to edit that?? Like I said, if the player really did make his editing good, he would have no issue editing a chat box in a full screenshot anyway. I support this idea.
I support this. Before, even I use to mess up with screenshots w/ gyazo, and like you said the report would be a void.
Support. If the provided screenshot shows all needed to be shown as sufficient evidence (proof it's on mineverse, proof of the user, ect.) then I don't see why that report can't be accepted. And if the cropped evidence looks fishy, it's the mod's call. Sounds fine to me.
Not really, just crop a picture using snip tool (for windows users) and using paint as well without using a cropping website or some junk. Not that hard.
Lol if I wanted to forge some evidence i would just need to grind a little on paint and bam all the mods are getting demoted!!!
