Okay so others were confused about my last thread about this so I'm going to make a more understandable one. Hey everyone hope you're all doing well today, so basically tons of people complain about hackers & eventually the staff members get super annoyed while getting tons of hate from people cause they aren't always on to ban hackers so what I'm gonna say can reduce the hate and stop all ban evading in general. 1. Disabling Vpns/Hotspot[Everyone] Pros- Reduces Ban evading/ ip bans. Stops more members from complaining. Less hackers Cons- Tbh idk 2. Ip ban from hub; Same time punishments as on rules.[Only Hackers] Pros- Stops hackers from hopping on different game modes after they are banned on one. Stops people/hackers from just hopping on an alt and continue playing after they are banned. Reduces the amount of toxic players & hackers. Less staff complaints. Makes the server more strict so people won't hack anymore or be toxic. Cons- Ban evaders/hackers will complain a lot. Disabling VPNs can be done with a plugin, what it does is stop anyone on a vpn to join the server, while ip bans can be done already without any plugins. Overall my opinion is that doing this will make this server a much more calm, less toxic place & will reduce staff getting complaints by members saying that "oh you stupid idiot ban this hacker or I make staff report" About 1-2 people will have connection problems and the chances are rare but that means they should fix their internet in the first place. Every single successful server has this plugin so the results show for itself, I'm now going to explain why this makes a big difference. So let's say one day I decide to hack and I have an alt generator and I decide to use 3 accounts, I decide to hack on 10 different game modes and hop between game modes every single ban, That adds up to 10 bans, which is also 10 reports and most likely 10 different mods handling the situation, that's also 10 YouTube videos uploaded due to evidence. And if I do that on 3 accounts only then that's 30 forums reports. 30 YouTube videos, 30 bans for only 3 accounts!!! What this plugin will do is make it to where instead of 30 reports for 3 accounts it would be 1 report and 1 ban total. Which puts less stress on the staff and also more fun for the members of the server. Yes people have siblings and that shouldn't be a problem because they shouldn't be hacking or cheating in the first place and they should remind their siblings and be responsible for their actions. I hope you understand why this is so important and why this needs to be implemented ASAP, Thank you for the time.
I read through some of the replies on your previous suggestion and I read that someone thought that this never happened that often? Being a moderator, I can tell you that this does happen a lot. Definitely a lot more than the public believe it to be. This could help out a lot, for sure. As long as it is done right, I don't see any harm in it. As you said previously, majority > minority. For this to work properly though, we'd have to actually start IP-Banning users, which we currently do not, or do on an extremely rare basis. This idea would have to be worked on for a while in order for us to achieve anything. I'll go ahead and tag @Pile and @Dyna_Mighty and maybe they can think about whether or not it could be a viable addition to the server.
I would say only hacking should have the ip ban. Even though they have brothers and sisters that is their fault for choosing to break the rules. Terrible actions come to consequences.
This would tell more people to stop. As you can see if someone in the same household is hacking the brother/sister of the hacker would tell them not to due to the consequences. It would help scare off the hackers. But that is my opinion you may have a different one
So true. I've been banned for hacking 6 times and I don't hack. I don't think it would be fair if my two younger brothers were punished because of the false bans I received
Then you should take into account the rules on this. If a user gets banned, anyone sharing that IP is also to be banned. That's apart of the rules and if your brother/sister gets banned, then you should get annoyed You do realise you currently already get banned for this. If a member of your family gets banned and you share the same IP, you too, will be banned.
Yes, that is exactly what that command does. But, we are able to find out other usernames that are connected to your IP. That is how we catch people ban evading.
I know that you can check potential alternative accounts, but why should my brother be banned for what I do?
If I recall IP bans are already implemented on the Hub..I could be wrong. Also, by disabling VPNS and hotspots, doesn't that prevent people from say playing while at hotspots in say restaurants that have WI-FI hotspots?
He's not being punished for what you did, per say. It's purely because you both would share the same IP. How can you prove that it's your brother playing every time? How can you prove that it isn't you ban evading?
