Yeah, I'm actually going to be serious for once in this thread~ As you all probably know already, the rules have recently been updated to fit the needs of the current Mineverse. Some things certainly needed to be amended so I have no issue with the general change. However, there is something about it I think needs to be removed or at least be made less vague. Here is the thing I believe needs to be removed/clarified: http://prntscr.com/d139k1 In this screenshot, you will see the rule clearly state "Moderators reserve the right to delete posts or threads as they see fit". Moreover, doesn't it seem kind of vague to you? Think about it and try to remain as unbiased as possible: With this rule, it theoretically allows moderators+ to close threads as they please. Now, I am not saying this will for sure happen but if a mod were to abuse and close a thread, then this rule would be a fallback which would defend their actions. This rule is bound to create issues in the future, whether it's an abuse issue or just a rule that doesn't have enough clarification. This rule gives way too much power to the staff members if they were to start using it maliciously. I am good friends with several moderators and I am in no way inciting hate towards them. But you have to keep in mind there is always a possibility this can be used the wrong way. I get why it was added - to give staff the right to suppress hate threads that would otherwise cause controversy to close. I really truly get the thought process but try to look at it from the players' perspective. I'd appreciate any feedback down below. Don't be afraid to voice your opinion.
Yeah I guess this is kinda true but on the other side people can just report the thread if locked for no reason. Also sometimes there is a very vague like on when some feel like if locking a thread is necessary or not.
Yeah but according to the moderator's perspective, the rule says they can choose delete it or not. There are no specifics on what you can delete and can't. See the issue there? Someone may say it's common sense but then again, that is way too vague.
Yeah I do see where you're coming from but however I feel most people might just end up making a staff report if this were to happen. Surely there would those who don't. I guess I could get behind making that rule a bit more clear
Yes. That would happen, as there are certain rules and punishments we have too. @Bananurz do you have any suggestions on how to phrase the rule in a better way, perhaps?
I was one of those 'higher ups' for a year and it is very possible things can become biased. (Not saying that's happening now but our rules should be changed so situations like this don't happen in the first place.) Yeah sure - Moderators+ reserve the right to delete post/threads if they break any of the following guidelines... - - - etc. See?
You got my support on this. This can be a big problem if someone abuses. Hope you suggestion gets accepted!
I wouldn't say it should be removed, it just needs to be clarified more in the thread. I know what Cypriot was saying there, but most people will take this literally and try to defend their actions using this statement.
Support. The rule should be changed to "Moderators have the ability to close a thread if it is in violation of our rules"
