Hello everyone. During my time of being banned, I decided to hop onto another Minecraft forum that I know quite well, just to find out what was going on and all, and now I spend most of my time there. Yeah, I'll probably won't be as active as I used to here, now. Upon looking in one of the off-topic sections, I came across a rant about treating moderators with sincerity and respect, and realised how much I could relate to it with MV. This was made by a moderator, so of course it's going to be in 1st person. Just ignore that, and take a good read at the rant, especially if you are one of those annoyingly frustrating moderator bashers Enjoy~ "Hello lads, legends and others, In many ways this thread will be perceived as a rant thread, I guess you could say it is, but it's not really the true intention here. A thread not too dissimilar to this one has been made (N/A* ty Supporto ) and has covered issues which many moderators hold close to heart. I'm not intending to make a replica of this thread and intend to deal with another matter completely here. From the offset here I would like to state that we are here to help you in the hub, so please don't be afraid to ask! I just wish to bring to your attention the manner in which mods are treated when being asked for help in the hub. For me, at least, pleases and thank yous mean a lot. They don't really take much to say and it honestly makes a question much more polite, mannerly, courteous and the like. I think you get my point, it's just polite. However, from what I have experienced, many users are exceptionally discourteous when asking for a moderator's assistance. Statements like 'Mod i need help now' or 'Mod hax SG42* ban rn,' they are not helpful and come across to me as just rude. Sure mods are here to help, we understand that, but just being plain rude when asking for assistance really makes us feel undervalued. We're not machines that follow any command no matter how it's asked, we are people believe it or not and manners do really mean a lot to us! Now we come to those who spam for a mod! I'm not sure who decided this was a good idea but, put quite simply, it isn't. I understand that sometimes a mod may not read your first message, feel free to send it again if you have to! But, just don't spam for a mod twenty times in the space of a minute. It doesn't exactly prove you to be intelligent to do so, in fact it does very much the opposite. It just makes us feel less inclined to help you, which I know we shouldn't feel (or at least for me), but it just makes me feel like you don't view us as a normal player who do have to go through a lot of messages at one point. While I do appreciate that some moderators, like myself, will sit AFK in the hub at time. Just like a normal player would. Please don't make statements like 'all mods are afk, why are they mod?' or 'mods are all bad they should be active.' That's not how it works. We do have lives to attend to and sometimes may stay logged in on the server when dealing with issues like these. So, please, don't do the rude thing and try to critique us for being AFK. To conclude what does seem like a fairly long thread here (my apologies), mods are not machines. We are people, with feelings, who do give up our spare time to do all of this. I don't want you to think of us as robots who can carry out commands, we enjoy conversation, messing around. You name it, we probably do it. We just don't appreciate being demanded to help on instant with no manners being used in the process. I don't want you guys thinking that this affects every player here on hive, it doesn't! The vast majority of you are great lads, so keep up the great work on that account! But to the minority that this thread does affect, please take notice. So please (look at me, using manners!) next time you do ask for a moderators assistance, just be more polite in your approach. A please and a thank you can go a long way believe it or not, it could even make someones day if i'm honest. Feel free to approach us in the hub! But please, treat us how you would wish to be treated!" * Another server N/A - Link directing to another server
I really don't get why people are so demanding towards moderators. I've got maybe 2 friends who are staff, and when they are playing games, like what the server IS FOR, the get criticised for not doing their job Mineverse is about having fun! And when staff are playing Skywars, Bedwars or anything, they constantly leave ingame to deal with hackers, and people needing to be banned... So the person who wrote this was from another server?
I cannot agree with this anymore. I thank you for sharing that. It may not be well received, but I cannot tell you how true this is.
Yeah...this was one of the many reasons I resigned. Disrespect. Yeah you can't avoid it, but it was very high at the time I was moderator and it usually is for the new guys. Many of the experienced mods have told me it takes time to earn the respect of this community, which I find quite rude and disrespectful. Not only that but the community likes to purposely test the new moderators and hope they slip and fall so they can be demoted. Yeah, I disrespected moderators before, but not the way I was treated (or as often as I was treated) and I hope the community is better since my days as moderator. This post is very wonderful and encouraging for the community of not only MV but other servers to try and be respectful to one another and the results should show why we should.
When I was mod, the hate coming towards moderators was worse then hate towards Trump. Fortunately, the hate was absolutely nothing to me. I do agree on this. Now people say "Moderators should be payed!!!" I personally will have to disagree. Moderators chose to put their selves into a insane journey. No one forced anyone. That's about it for my part. Gotta go before my iPad turns off it's at one percent. Bye.
I agree. Though I have done this tho a few mods. So I'm sorry to all the mods who I remained attention from.
Exactly. The server this was adapted from is a much popular server, and I'll hint you that DanTDM himself plays on this server. And let me tell you, the hate on moderators there is nothing compared to here. It's crazy, and also a bit pathetic if you ask me. Just wanted to spread the word ;) This is amazing. I myself, went through many hate during my very short time as a moderator, and as an innocent 11-year old back then, it was hard to cope with it. Thank you for sharing this, it means a lot giving your own personal opinion and thoughts on this topic People tend to target specific moderators, based on past actions and feelings towards each other, and try to knock them down. They test them for a reason. They test them to see if they crack, or just melt down. Of course, moderators shouldn't be paid. It doesn't work like that, as you said. ty for sharing your own opinion on this ;p It's alright, I'm sure the staff can find it to forgive you
we need to make that a thing EVERYBODY SET #ModLivesMatter AS YOUR STATUS OR FEEL THE WRATH OF THE NERDS (talking to you @Pile)
No reason to be rude to @rebornn. If you are telling him get a life for coming onto another minecraft forum, you are no better, you probably got banned on a forum before and got on a new Mc forum. so that means since your on a minecraft forum which is known as mineverse, that means you have no life to?
I think I was quite clear that the thread was an adaption. *Asks someone to use proper English* *Doesn't capitalise the "E" in "English"* If you have nothing good to come up with in your thick skull @NewsFeed, the door is there for a reason.
