Hey there guys MDJ here and I've been playing OpPvP for a while now ( 2 years ) And I remembered the time where you could get Str 2 and Speed 2 and it was a lot easier to kill someone now. Not like helm breaks drink strengt and there dead but it was just easier to kill someone. I think most players on OpPvP Realise how to survive because its nearly impossible to kill someone now because when their helm breaks and they have no gap they put their helmet on pearl to gapple and boom their save. If that happend with strengt 2 you had a chance to drop him if you pearl good. If you pearl good now a days they already eat their gap sorry for my bad English. Now lets talk about Speed 2 Speed 2 is much better than speed 1 if you have speed 1 and the guy you're fighting has speed 2 you will see a huge improvement. Speed 2 just gives you more asset and makes pvp more fare for people with low click but good aim and strafe in my opinion. I know people will say : No Support This will make OpPvP too OP. But yeah sorry for the long thread and sorry for my bad English since I'm not English. Bye -MDJ
No support. Strength was remove because it became way too overpowered and became unfair for people. Now with strength removed, it requires strategy to kill people.
Well, lets break down the math for a second on strength 2. Since strength 1 increases damage by 3 hp (so every sword hit would do 2 and a half more hearts) and strength 2 does 6 (or 3 hearts) we need to consider protection value in order to see the difference. From what I recall Protection value goes up to V if I'm not mistaken. Now, if you do the research, the game does a bit of math to calculate how much protection will reduce when damage is applied to the player. If you check the wiki (http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Armor#Enchantments) You can see all the enchantment names and their descriptions. That being said, Protection I has a EPF (Enchantment Protection Factor) of 1 and is increased by 1 every time the Protection goes up. So, theoretically, Protection VV would have a EPF of 10. What does this mean? Well, considering EPF has a cap at 20, the max reduction would be 80% at 20 EPF if you do the calculations which is damage = damage * (1 - EPF / 25). According to this formula, you could max out Explosion resistance (which is 20 EPF) by doing 2 pieces of Blast Protection IV ( 8 EPF) and one piece of Protection IV (4 EPF). Any other enchantments toward explosion resistance would be a waste of enchants, of course these enchant spots could be put towards other resistance as well. That being said, Protection V on 4 pieces of armor does max out the cap of 20 EPF (since its 5 EPF per piece). What does this even have to do with Strength 2? Well, it does by telling us what damage will actually be applied when comparing it to strength 1. So, first off we need to know what damage the sword does. So, we gotta assume the player has at most Sharp V. According to wiki, Sharpness I increases damage by half a heart (or 1) then o.5 (1 heart x 1/4) for every additional level. So, do the math, that's 2 extra damage for the next 4 levels + the 1 damage for sharpness I which makes in total, 5 damage ( or 2 and a half hearts). Add the strength 2 and you get 5 and a half hearts of damage every hit. That's a lot right? Maybe, let's add in the reduction of 80% for Protection V. The reduction, reduces damage down to around 2.2 damage or 1 heart per hit. Compare that to strength 1 which increases damage by 3 (1 and a half hearts) and the total amount of damage done is 8 damage ( or 4 hits) which we then add the reduction by Protection V and we got a total of 1.6 damage per hit (half or if it rounds it will be 1 heart). So, compare Strength 1 which does 1.6 damage (if we calculate that the player has Sharp V and Protection V) and Strength 2 which does 2.2 damage per hit. So technically, yes Strength 2 does more damage, but at barely any more of a rate than Strength 1 does. Though, if you increase Sharpness, you could get a larger result, but in reality strength 2 only increases it by .6 damage. As for the speed 2, it gives the player a bit too much speed to out hit the player by dodging hits while attacking the enemy. So I'd say no support on strength 2 because according to my calculations it would be a waste of time by adding 0.6 more damage from strength 2 into pvp factor of winning.
Wow @The Real Xtreme you're committed .o. Neutral. Although it may be too OP, but PvP is meant to include potions, so I'm stuck in between.
In the beginning it recuired strategy now its impossible to kill players cause they pearl gap and there fine
I can kill people just fine without strength 2. It depends on your skill level at pvp along with how they react.
Support for Speed II but not for Strenth II Only Srength I. Wow, that was similar to EccentricPotatos post. Well anyway thats what I think.
This will be my last off-topic comment. The only way you could get strength was by combining healing pots and blaze powder in a brewing stand. But it was never in the spawn shop.
Support on Speed. No Support on Strength. My Reasons are because when strength was on op, you would die almost instantly and it made you not want to play anymore. now when you die you think "good fight! It lasted a while"
Guys I said strengt 1 or strengt 2 it doesn't have to be strengt 2 very much people think that but I understand the no support. I do hope they add speed 2 back though cause it makes PvP more spectaculair.
