Well, ive been looking through the "Report a player" thread and i saw a lot of complaints regrading "hacking." I just wanted to introduce the idea Screensharing the suspect's version folder to see if they have any hacked clients installed. I've seen this done in other servers such as *Mod Edit* and *Mod Edit* and what you do is implement a pugin which freezes the suspect and it tells them to go into teamspeak, it also gives a warning not to log out or they will be banned, then a staff member can screenshare and check if the suspect is hacking. Leave a -1 or +1 ALL Suggestions will be read!
Thats why the mods will check the edit times of .minecraft, or the players forge folder. Support, but of course mods need to be put through the proper training in order for this to work correctly.
I don't think you get how screensharing works. They freeze the player and if they log out they get banned. They then scan with a program (like cheatsmasher) and if hacks appear, ban. If it's too difficult for the staff then they obviously have inefficient staff.
You could just rename you client as 1.8.8, furthermore this would mean a direct Internet connection between nods and player's therefore giving up out vpn/up addresses. Sorry but personally I'll pass on that
No support. Screensharing someone can take a lot of time and it's easy to hide hacks somewhere in your computer.
No support. -You could then get the other person's IP -What if their operating system doesn't support the application? -They could delete the client
Things that are wrong with this: - People have the right to privacy therefore staff forcing players to screenshare is not ethical. - Not all players can share their screens or have the best connection to do so. - Not all staff/players have skype, access to screenshare software/websites. - Not all staff use ts - People can rename folders, files and can easily hide hacks - Owning hacks is not illegal. People might have plenty of hacked clients. - Adding programs to someone's pc without permission to catch hacked clients is unethical - #lagouts and your gone. - Corrupt staff could abuse this so hard. I would rather be banned 30 days for hacking than have a mod know what I have on my PC. This is a surefire way to have people quit is allowing mods to invade privacy especially changing the system on a 3 yo server. Other servers may do it but mineverse is NOT other servers and does NOT need to do what other servers do. There are other ways to increase efficiency of catching hackers but it does not require access to see whats on a persons pc.
