Mentioned by @Kane in a Suggestion of mine.

I was wondering, why do people have to do hundreds of reports for people to support their moderator application? As Kane said, there could be a hacker who has done LOADS of reports and people would support him/her because of these reports.
I just think that it's a bit weird that people support because of how many reports you have.
I understand it, I just find it a bit weird.

I guess some people like the applicant to show that they want to help by making reports. It's not a major factor when choosing promotions, but it does help.

The reason why players judge applicants by the amount of reports that they have done is because, by doing reports you're benefiting the server and it shows that you're dedicated.
Although I do agree to a certain extent that players should judge more by the player itself instead of what they have done.

Lots of reports as a player usually means lots of bans as a mod.

It shows dedication, activity and maturity (in my opinion). before I was mod I had over 500 reports over a course of 3-4 months. I'm mod now and I've banned 400+ Hackers in a month. I'm looking to better the community one hacker at a time. I've given up my "play time" to help people. WHETHER* anyone thinks I'm a good mod or trash mod, that's up to them. But you still gotta try to push through the hate that people put you through.

So reports are considered as a contributing factor when choosing candidates to promote?
I think that as well, the person may be a really good candidate to be a mod and not done any reports.

It's not a huge deal whether the applicant makes reports or not, but it looks nice to see them helping out.

If someone does lots of reports then it shows they know the rules and they would know who to punish. It also shows dedication to the server.

Hard to do that when the hackers come back after a month.

Reports contribute as a physical representation that someone has went out of their way to somewhat help the server. They're literally a measurement.

With that said, not EVERYTHING about supporting an application is based around this. That's an incorrect way to look at it.

In my personal opinion, I don't know why doing reports as a normal player has such an impact. You see, sometimes it's got to do with the fact that some people cannot upload so many videos for reports, but as soon as they get promoted, they can just do all the reports and record them in their ban log. They still have to record hackers if they find them, but I don't see why it's such a serious thing. All it really shows is dedication or even activity.

Yeah, I dont see the big deal.
Someone could be SO dedicated to MV but only just have downloaded a recording software, so hasnt done any reports. Then there could be a person who has come on MV on and off and done hundreds of reports.

It's "promotion" because it shows you care about the server. It also shows activity, sometimes maturity, and etc...
