I get why you made this thread, but you really don't know how hard the staff work until you become one. They do a lot for this server. I do agree with you to a certain point though. Admins may be a good idea, but you have to consider the bumpy past of admin abuse on this server. I can understand why Cyp and Noob haven't reintroduced the admin position in a while. When it comes to time-zones though... you are correct. In my opinion, mods should be from all over the world. We need players from everywhere to cover all different time-zones and countries (at least the countries that mineverse members are from). The roughly 21 actual staff members (not including builders, devs, or owners) is cutting it close to what this server really "needs".
(This is my 200th msg btw) The mods DO have a life, school, holidays and family issues. Just like you. They were promoted for a reason. And let's not forget: this is a game. I would apply for mod (im in EU) but I definitely won't be accepted because I haven't done many reports and don't have anything to record with :(
This is basically reiterating what everyone else has said. Mods have lives, Mineverse isn't always their first priority. I've called with a couple of mods and I can hear their frustration through their voices and can't imagine how frustrating it actually is. They are seriously stressed out and we can't understand how agrivating their job can be sometime. I know that @Kenju has to log 350 bans, just imagine how long that would take. Please don't hate on the mods.
This thread isn't hate, Jesus did you even read it? I'm not allowed to say which server apparently, but I know of a certain server that is about 10x more popular than this one is, and they don't have promotion waves. How you get accepted is if you are worthy to be mod. That's it. And yes, they promote almost every day. I get it, Mineverse isn't as big as this said server, but 1 promotion wave every 2 months doesn't cut it on a 600+ player server. What a detailed and very needed reply. Once again this thread isn't hating in the slightest. I agree with all of your points, except maybe the Aus and Eu mod promotions. We would need actual good applicants for that to happen. I also understand that the mods are most likely going to defend the server that they love, hell I did when I was mod, but the server isn't perfect. We need to change what isn't working, and not just sit back and say "it's good enough" or "it's been working fine for years."
Okay, first of all the phrase "I just don't think the staff team is good enough" is hate. We try our best and only get hate, or threads like this talking about how the current staff team needs to be better. We try to be on as much as we can, but life happens. Yes, more mods need to be promoted but it isn't a simple oh lets promote people, more goes into it. These threads have been popping up. I did read it and I responded to the rest of it, but I also responded to his other ideas. So, to answer your question, yes. I definitely read the post.
I've never said this before, but this thread about the staff team not being good enough is totally invalid. The staff now compared to my two runs at mod is much more organized and robust compared to when I was mod, and that is thanks to the head staff team. When I was moderator, 200 reports would remain there unanswered just chilling, @Alex and @Nanurz can attest to that. That would never happen now. The staff team in my opinion is the best that it has ever been. But i guess not everyone can always be satisfied.
Why is it that when you see the words "I don't think the staff team is good enough," your mind automatically goes to hate, when in reality all it is saying is that there is room for improvement. Every single person and thing about the Staff Team could possibly be improved. This thread in my mind isn't one of those "The staff team sucks promote me" threads, it's a thread that is pointing out some of the areas that the Staff Team could improve in.
How about: I'm not just annoyed at this thread, but the many others that are posted, complaining about the mods even though they work super hard to do their jobs. Threads like this don't do any good, so I said stop hating, because I think the mods need to be treated better.
So let me get this straight, a thread stating all the things the staff team could improve on is now considered hate? kk. It's because of people who are constantly defending a semi-broken system that the perfecting process is going so slow.
Honestly I think this thread is nothing but a moderator and a players disagreement. Unfortunately with the way most servers choose staff members by filling out an application. If you didn't know anyone could be a staff-member and it doesn't matter who they are. Any person can report, apply, be nice and just follow instructions. I feel like once someone becomes a staff member they feel that it isn't worth what they applied or that is not what they expected. Anyways, I'm saying it's really the management and the staff to come up with something and listen to the community. The problem is they don't take all complaints in consideration and that's my issue with every server.
forums is easily accessible on your phone and stuff. it's pretty self explanatory that they'll be on the forums more. probably not true no need to make up stuff. hopefully you don't get promoted either way.
Yes but, it's not like the staff aren't trying to improve. The mods themselves have stated many reasons above about how they can't just immediately promote people, e.g Not the right mod apps. All these threads saying "They're not good enough" isn't going to help, the mods try their best but for some people I guess that isn't enough. Just give them a break jeez.
Wouldn't really consider it as "hate" more of an opinion. The key words "I just dont think the staff team is good enough." He's not saying flat out "The staff team isn't good enough."Learn to take a bit of criticism, honestly.
When did I ever say it was the Moderators who are in the wrong? I said that the staff team in general could improve, along with the overall system. I'm not blaming the mods for Cyp's overall inability to trust people with higher ranks than Moderator.
Hope you know that the staff members made an application on dealing with situations like these. If they can't control this and typing on a keyboard how the hell are they going to manage a disagreement in real life or accepting reality. Flame threads be like;
