So, let's say someone asked me to screenshare. I say sure, because I'm not hacking. Then this mod goes through my minecraft directory and sees that I have clients installed and then bans me. Though, at the time I wasn't using them? That's still a false ban. I'll allow them to screenshare and view my minecraft client which is currently open, I'm not letting them falsely ban me for "Suspicion of hacking". I personally have "illegal" clients downloaded, that doesn't mean I use them? I'm sure many of the mods have clients downloaded as well, mainly for testing out how hacks work to better their knowledge. I've seen the /freeze command used on other servers and it actually works very well. /freeze, ask the person to join them on Teamspeak, screenshare the user. Not if it's obvious hacking of course, like if someone is blatantly hacking then the mod shouldn't waste their time with the screenshare, that's an easy ban. If someone has been accused of hacking, though it's not obvious at all, then sure, freeze and screenshare.
you realize they can tell what minecraft client you are using? if you're using default mc 1.8 or something and they find a hack client for 1.7 why would they ban you? obv the mods would have to record the screenshare so if they do false ban you other mods can watch the screenshare.
Indeed, but Metro 5.1 shows up as vanilla Minecraft. As @Linkin Park said, what if you don't have the client on? Then they're just gonna screw you over and ban you? IMO it's kinda difficult..
A Screenshare is pointless the only way to tell if they are using a client is for them to press F3. So what if they have clients in their folder, that doesn't prove that they're using it.
As I said like 2 comments above, Metro 5.1 is hidden in F3, if you go download it, it shows up as vanilla MC when you press F3.
if they try and delete the metro file and it says " you can not delete a file that is being used" then that would be proof that they are using it, if they are able to delete it without any problems then it shows they are not using it.
